Nah, shop for Xbox live 3-month ones.... there was a deal for 3 months of Gold for like $7 on here the other day. The conversion to Game Pass Ultimate is 50 days for an Xbox live 3-month card. Based on this, you would get a little over 3 months for like $14.

I extended my sub for like $45 for over a year....

So, when the 3-month Xbox live gold cards show up for a deal, grab them as long as the price is good, $5-7 is common...

It's automatic... buy and redeem Xbox Live Gold codes (stack up to 3 years) then sign-up for Game Pass Ultimate. The XBL Gold time will convert at a 3:2 ratio (3 month XBL Gold = 2 months GPU). That's for new or expired GPU subscriptions.

I agree, they nerfed it along with the price increase, honestly not surprising. My sub runs until September from the last stack so there was no way for me to get in before the change. I guess I'll stack 36 and get 24 next go-round.

Now that they killed the 1:1 I will probably top off my account. When you say shop for the 3 month of gold do you mean on Eneba and similar sites? Curious where you are finding these for sub $7. I searched recent deals and everything seems to be 8-9...
