- Battery size 36/12.8 vs 48/10.4
- Range (which I don't believe they're numbers with that battery pack) 50 vs. 60
- Motor No name 500w vs. Bafang 500w/750peak
- Top speed 20 vs. 22
- Suspension None vs. adjustable dual shock fork
- Deraileur / gears No name vs. Shimano
- Warranty 1 year vs. 2 year
- Price $899 + TAX + Shipping vs. $699 minus 5% Amazon card and free shipping
- Extras
The OK: Bafang 500W Rear hub motor (Vs VanMoof's center-hub motor)
The meh: 36V vs 48V of the Gen3 Stride
The ugly: VERY limited support for this product, it might be end-of-life? Not sure how long these batteries have been sitting in an over-discharged state as this price has been offered over a year ago IIRC
All-in, an average price given that Gen3 went out of business shortly after the sales; you would also have to source your own cargo rack for this bike.

Battery size 36v / 12.8ah vs 48v / 10.4ah
Sure the higher specs look pretty but what is the goal and what is the truth ? Ultimate amount of spec (greater) does not mean squat if it won't survive to do it's duty. Meaning the lower spec Bird batteries might be lower spec to maintain the reliability by going with more expensive more reliable batteries that will last 5 years of service life as opposed to higher spec but less reliable batteries. The higher spec batteries might have higher failure rates and lower lifespan of cycles. Ultimately it's a balance of price, efficiency and reliablity to serve performance in the rental ebike space not to trigger a purchase from a consumer.
Range 50 vs 60
What is there to say ? marketing BS will over inflate and rental ebike consumers won't even consider it because they don't have a choice, heck they won't even see range specs at all. This would give higher confidence of accuracy where there is less marketing BS pressure.
Motor no name 500w vs Bafang 500w/750peak
Maybe, maybe not, the no name Bird motor may well be a Bafang and may well be specd the same or higher than the amazon bike, not sure what reality is as there isn't enough information given by Bird. This one could go either way, hard to really tell.
Top speed 20 vs 22
Again, who knows.... can't really address this without testing it but a 2mph difference, even if real at least to me does not make much difference.
Suspension none vs adjustable dual shock fork
Ah, this is one of the big BS marketing schticks. In all reality, all BS aside the harsh reality is this. In my opinion it is better to have no suspension at all than garbage suspension. This is one of those areas where it's best to be on one side of the freeway or the other side, the middle is where all the trouble and danger are. Either have no suspension and have the efficiency and reliability of no suspension, really the practical choice if price is a factor. Or have reliable suspension that performs well but the price skyrockets because the level of manufacturing to do so goes up considerably. The low cost bike but still have suspension is the danger point, where you get garbage that will breakdown on you the second the warranty runs out and force you to buy actually reliable suspension which is expensive AND have to install it. Bird ebike choice of no suspension on the surface looks like the lesser choice, but in practice and reality is the best choice if price is an important consideration.
Deraileur/gears no name vs Shimano
This isn't comparable in any way shape or form. The Bird ebike does not even have any deraileurs at all, it's carbon belt, only one gear, period. Performance is incomparible, yes the Bird bike has only one gear, but it's carbon belt, reliability is through the roof, likely will be zero maintinance. Look up bicycles with carbon belt drivetrains, they are all expensive. This feature is sought after by people that want a reliable bike, and are not fooled by marketing hocus pocus. Lots of people that have no need for multiple gears and want reliability and efficiency UPGRADE to carbon belt drives.
Warranty 1 year vs 2 year
Who knows about this one, not sure the Bird bike will even have the company being still around to warranty it 6 months from now, the bike itself is rock solid. But these are ebikes from the failed ebike rental market. Not sure how future reliability of the manufacturer of the bikes will be considering they have to sell these at drastically slashed prices.
Price $899 vs $699
Well for the Bird ebike you are buying a $3000 (my opinion) bike for $899 for the amazon bike your buying a $699 bike for $699 no matter how they dress it up with marketing BS.
Now I'm not trying to ruffle anybody's feathers, just presenting my opinion with a secondary goal of pointing out that not everything on the surface is as it seems. Marketing BS has the primary goal of BSing you to separate you from your money. The counter to that is to educate yourself as much as possible, and preferably gain some experience with the actual products and reality before falling victim to marketing BS.

Reason I'm not jumping on it is that there seem to be limited accessories. Need to have a rear rack and front basket.
