I really like Roku's interface and use these and the 4k sticks all over the house. Using Xfinity (Comcast), I only pay for 1 4k cable box while running Xfinity stream app from these Roku devices. Using a mesh system or dedicated access points you can ensure fast connection speeds that will support 4k streaming from Netflix and others.

I have plex server installed on my NAS and stream to this Roku with the plex app

Roku supports almost every streaming app , just google the app name + Roku

I have two of these, they are both several rooms away from the router and they work fine. You may have received a bad box or you may have a router that doesn't work well with these boxes.

These boxes have 56k ratings on Amazon, and 94% of the people gave it a 4 or 5 star review.

I can not really speak for other devices. I have Roku TV's and varus Roku players on all my TVs and have been happy with them for may years. Roku has the most streaming channels & apps, available bar none. Its their main selling point for me. I like their interface as well. I'm sure the others streamers likely have most of the popular options as well. Roku however lacks support for some codecs, including audio codecs needed to stream the new over the air ATSC 3.0 tuner content. From network tuners devices. But you can find support or example on the new firesticks.

The wifi reception on these is terrible, to the point they won't function if the wireless router isn't in the same room. Other devices in the same location don't have the problem, so it's a Roku issue. Get an ONN or a Google TV instead for decent wifi and more apps at the same price.

I think they meant the hacked versions where they have no commercials but you make a valid point as the official YouTube app is on there.

It is like a half box 1.5in deep x3.5in wide x.75 in thick, back has hdmi slot and micro usb power and reset button, prefer this over the stick which can suck depending on hdmi slot location on the TV and if using a wll mount.

not sure if they still keep the apple mirror on this device but i think during their release the first time. this was the only device which we could mirror our iphones to our big screen tv natively. so we could get rid of our old apple tv just for that feature.

Since my hisense roku tv does not have built in Bluetooth, using the roku remote app on my phone for private listening is good option. Also air play to mirror iPad is very easy. Unlike 4K firestick which requires downloading a separate app for mirroring

Good deal, only it's that design which tends to get pretty warm after awhile. Still compared to the Xfinity Flex Box this blows it out of the water.

I personally have a Roku Ultra and it's works great though checkout the Roku Stream-bar/built in Roku if you want a better than TV Speaker and Roku in one.
