Depends on your needs, this one has no minileds but better processing.
Since I'll use it as a PC monitor I'll go for the 6 series as my computer will do the processing itself.

R655 has the roku OS while the Q7 has android tv.

Official reviews aren't out yet, but the Q7 has looked really solid in live streams. It's not miniled, but still has lots of zones and not too much blooming. Too early to say if performance is close to or better than the R655.

Any thoughts/comments on how this would perform as an outdoor tv under a covered patio?

QM8 is very overpriced. Q7 or the 6 series seem to hit the sweet spot. If I am willing to spend money, I rather go with OLED.

I'd get the QM8 personally. You'll have this TV for what, 5-10 years or so? Do you really want to watch something that isn't an outstanding TV for the next 10 years? If you get the Q7, you'll always look at it and wonder "man, wonder what the QM8 would have looked like here..."

Plus, the QM8 is on sale right now for 1699.
I think exactly the opposite way. Wait for a smoking deal on a TV, then replace it every 2-3 years while still getting back the majority of original price selling off the old TV. No way I could keep a TV for a decade just because I overpaid for the best at the time. TV tech advances far too quickly to be stuck with something for that long.

I've had my 65C7 for 6 years now. Not quite a decade, but getting closer every day.

I'd be replacing my my Vizio 75 P series F1. Was going to go 85 in but my current mount won't fit the vesa

I was really dead set on the qm8 but 999 for the Q7 is crazy and still probably a big upgrade to what I have

I just picked up a 65" R655 after debating with the Q7. Open box from Best Buy without a remote cost $599

It hasn't been that quick. This TV isn't better than say an 8 year old LG OLED. If you see any deals on the LG C2, jump on it. Actually get any LG OLED model, A, B, or C series. You'll never go back to cheap TVs after you switch to OLED.

When it costs ~50% less than the "outstanding" option, sure.
