I just got this exact model, with the Lattego system. Absolutely amazing. My home always smells like fresh ground espresso. It is incredibly quick considering it makes a you a full drink. About 2 minutes or so and it will grind the beans and come up to pressure as it steams and foams your milk, then boom cappuccino. . Easy to clean (just a little wet sometimes because it has an autoclean feature, which is nice!). Best purchase I've made all year.

It is absolutely real espresso. You can hear it building up to pressure on the grounds as it is steaming the milk. If you check the pucks before the cleaning cycle (which gets them a lil wet) they are solid and mostly dry.

Where did you get those disturbing ideas about not getting enough pressure?
"The ideal level of BAR passing through your coffee grounds should be around 7-11 BARs of pressure, though some espresso machines will be able to hit higher BAR. Machines capable of hitting 9 BARs of pressure will have the ability to produce a rich and concentrated espresso shot."

I have the 1200, measured it is 1.25 oz for espresso shot. The puck dried after a week weighs in 11.7g. Your all metal e61 may be better but please the philips are not that bad.

This is a super-auto. Vastly different than an automatic such as the breville barista express. Super auto's do not supply enough pressure to make a true espresso shot but make a kind of higher pressure coffee hybrid that can imitate espresso, at the touch of one button.

It's an all-plastic brew unit dosing about 10g of coffee for a 2 oz shot. Compare that to a traditional all metal e61 group head and 18-22g dose per shot. They're different machines intended for different drinks.

I purchased a Phillips 5400 for my SO. I think they're super convenient and she loves it. Zero hate for super auto's just pointing out they're very diff machines and those hoping for a cafe style shot of espresso may be disappointed.

You know a quick search will yield a single shot 1oz requires 7-10g of ground. By all measurements the philips is producing a traditional espresso shot. So either the cafe you visit don't make traditional espresso, or you're just out of excuses.

Espresso should be pulled around a 2:1 ratio of out:in by weight, not volume. 18-22g dose for 36-44g (roughly 1.5 oz water) shot. 7g is way under dosed even for a 1oz (28g water) shot. Why does this machine dose so little? Because it's pulling a weaker shot in the automatic all plastic brew unit at a roughly 4:1 ratio.

18-22g is a double shot. Go shove your elitism in a recycling bin.
