I fly all the time for work, I'm part 107, and have never had any of these issues you mention using the regular controller.

I'm sure the RC is probably great and nice to have, but you're exaggerating things.

My phone never overheats, the dongle never gets knocked out, my phone's battery is barely if any affected, my phone case isn't an issue ever, and you shouldn't be taking any phone calls while piloting a drone anyways.

These all sound like isolated personal issues. I've had hundreds of flights and don't have these complaints.

Your phone will heat up while running full brightness outside and running the DJI Fly app. And then eventually get darker when it gets too hot. You're also using your phone and your phone's battery. Your phone also gets notifications while flying unless you put it in Do Not Disturb. And if your drone is a half mile away and you get an important phone call, lol, good luck. Not to mention you have to use that annoying dongle that might get knocked out of your phone/come loose mid flight, and that adapter that you have to pull out to fit your phone in that doesn't fit most phone cases. The N1 is a royal PITA compared to the RC.

The N1 is barely any smaller. I've had both and never once have I ever thought, "Wow, I sure wish I didn't have this RC controller on me, I totally wish I had the 1/2" smaller N1 in my bag instead".

Have you ever used the RC? It is worth every penny over the N1.

Great drone and great price. That RC screen is so bright, much brighter than your phone.

I just got a Mavic 3 Classic and I'll likely be keeping the Mini 3 Pro as a backup. But as far as the Mini 3 Pro, for the price, the size, the ease of use, it's the best drone on the market. Very easy to use if you're a beginner but still has some Pro-level features. Make sure you take the photos in RAW and switch the video to D-Log to get the most out of your flights.

If you want to see what the drone can really do, my Instagram is @clarkefishing and almost all of the photos/videos there were shot with the Mini 3 Pro, including that big panorama I just posted.

If you have any questions about this drone, feel free, I'll try to answer!

Can anyone comment on Amazon's 2 year protection (via Asurion). $55 seems pretty cheap I don't mind the extra cost
I've used Asurion for my kid's cell phone and the process is great. Kid breaks phone screen, I send phone back to Asurion, they give me Amazon gift card for price I paid. Super easy process and works great since it covers accidents that are your fault.

The downside here is that you'd only get the sale price back as an Amazon gift card, not a new drone, whereas my understanding is that DJI will give you a new (or fixed) drone. That might be good if you break it in 1.5 years and can use the money for a new drone. But might be bad if it's still a couple hundred less than a replacement.

Plus, no fly-away, as noted previously.

Better off buying direct from DJI. saves hassle, you get a percentage back on your purchases, and it's the same price there. I've bought 6 drones all from DJI and it's just easier.

Also. Just buy the DJI air 2s. Way better and a little more $
Wrong. I'm seeing $909 for this on the DJI website

Last week you would have got one extra extended plus battery and one year of DJU refresh for free.

Also note that the Costco deal is not exactly the Fly More kit. It comes with two extra 249g batteries (not the extended run time) and a 128gb SD card. I purchased it on the 7/4 deal and it's still a great deal. I tried both controllers and decided to purchase an RC for ~$215 in addition to the N1 to have the option for tablet use or an all-in-one.
I'm on the same boat as you. I bought that 4th of July costco deal and then bought a a new RC controller off of craigslist for $225. I woke up and saw this today and though about getting it and returning the costco one. However, really thinking about it the Costco return policy is way better than Amazon. I have a friend that crashed his drone and costco replaced it with a new one no questions asked.

A friend, eh?

This is why we can't have nice things.

I had the RC controller and sold it in favor of the rc n-1 plus a tablet (Tab S6 light) which is heavier than the RC controller but much bigger and brighter - with it's own battery and app downloading capabilities.

The RC controller is nice, but maybe for like $100 more it would beat out just using my phone. Not $200-$250 more.

Yes the air 2S is more powerful with a better camera, but the Mini 3 Pro is quieter and smaller with better battery life. I'd chose the Mini 3 Pro over the air 2S every time.

Is this a joke post? Hundreds of flights myself - no overheating, no issues with a dongle ever, etc. Fearmongering here.

Debating on this. Went from the OG Mini to the Air 2 (not 2S) Fly More Combo.
Mini 3 Pro seems like a decent upgrade in sensor and smaller size - but this is totally a "i don't really need this" decision.

Contemplating buying this, then selling the RC controller in favor of the N1. Isn't that a decent option?

Your path is just like mine. I have my Air 2 and love it but haven't been taking it out as much due to it size (even though it's not too big) and having to setup my phone every time (which got harder now that I have a folding phone). I want this for more of the backpacking/adventure drone shots and like that it can charge via usb-c while in my backpack and the remote is something I contemplated getting anyway so it just seemed like a no brainer here.

Ordered this one and returned the one that DJI had on their sale. I used additional "discounts" for the egift offer of $5 for orders of $50 gift card as well as AMEX's 50% off up to $80

The free plus battery and one year of refresh? How is this deal that much better?
