You can ask your doctor to write a prescription for the 2% stuff and if you have insurance maybe get it free depending on your drug copay. Prescription strength works for me where this OTC stuff doesn't seem to at all.

This is correct, ketoconazole as an oral antifungal can cause liver damage but topical ketoconazole doesn't pose the same risk as it doesn't enter systemic circulation.

I second that. For my case this didn't work at all whereas the 2% prescription one has been working great.

Just had some arrive from Amazon yesterday, with an expiration date of 1/2025. I stocked up on 5 bottles, that should last through about then for me.
