its 1440p. you can tell by the product info stating "wqhd". Amazon listings are often wrong unfortunately

I couldn't find many reviews on this new 2023 model, but specs & price look good so I'm giving it a shot. No USB or Audio, but I can live with that.

This might be 1080, not 1440. Conflicting info on the amazon listing

Would be I wrong for assuming that this is basically a rebadged 2021 27q model, where HP realized that people are primarily interested in those models for gaming and decided they need to slap an Omen badge on it?

Don't think you're wrong. Specs look exactly the same as the x27q. Prior "Omen" 27" QHD had a swivel, usb hub and all kinds of good stuff. This one is the pig with lipstick version.

The Acer XV272U is now $225 at MicroCenter:
https://www.microcenter.com/produ...ng-monitor
https://www.rtings.com/monitor/re...kvbmiiprzx

I've been using it for a month, with G-Sync over USB-to-DP from my Legion 5 (RTX 3060). Great for both gaming and photo-editing. Excellent color accuracy before and after calibration.

Why most of the monitors are classified as gaming monitors, and the screen would be too grainy for daily email/Office documents editing work?

Thanks for this, I had a Gigabyte G27Q on backorder but this one is rated higher for about the same price.

Hmmm I have micro center about an hour away. Wondering if it's worth the drive

No. It's only "gaming" centric because it has a high refresh rate, which is highly desirable, and you will appreciate in even office and productivity tasks. The screen updates more times per second, things look smoother and nicer.

27 inch at 2k is still very sharp with very good pixel density. Look up a pixel density chart if you want the real truth about how sharp things will look on a given screen.

For me 2K at 27" is the sweet spot for pixel density. Not too dense to require scaling (which not everything supports well), and not too grainy to see individual pixels with my slowly degrading eyes (not needing glasses.... yet).

Totally agree. Once you look at how smooth a web page scrolls and the mouse cursor moves at 120Hz+, there's no going back to 60Hz.
