DeOxit. It's a cheap spray that fixes most scratchy pots (and switches that aren't performing as they should). They sell it online or in Guitar Center.
No. They are not gauranteed to be new. Just because you ordered one and it looks new doesn't mean everyone will get the same.
I've ordered multiple guitars from them, both Used and Open Box. And it has been a toss up between the guitar looking brand new, or obviously being a return unit with issues.
People need to be aware and prepared to in fact receive a used item when ordering a used item. Or an open box item that someone returned because it had an issue.
I've owned all of them. And did ship more than one back to ProAudioStar.
The jazzmaster they sold me was used and supposed to be new. The Strat I just thought was ugly and one of the tuners was loose but worked fine.
I have the Tele. It's great. The P bass is also really good. These aren't your typical sharp fret edge cheapo squires. They listed for a lot more and are finished accordingly.
I agree. I ordered an open-box Squier Classic Vibe 60 P Bass, and it arrived brand new unopen in a box at 50% off, and it had no issues. However, my friend ordered CV 70 P Bass, and he has scratchy pot. Pro Audio Star wanted a fee to return, so he kept it. These deals may be the same as Pro Audio Star, but given that one will get a better warranty and return policy... Thumb ups!!!!
My open box Jazzmaster from ProAudioStar has many issues.
As I know ProAudioStar has a terrible return policy, I prefer to buy from Amazon.
Has anyone had a bad experience ordering a guitar with Amazon being the seller/shipper? I've read a couple of comments that said it didn't go well. But it's a small sample size. I've tried to order from guitar stores on Amazon.
warehouse deals is the worst.
As for buying new, out of 5 guitars over the years 2 had issues. 1 with a neck crack and 1 with a bad pot that was replaced under warranty.

You are correct, 40th Anniversary fit and finish is on par.
OK. Not familiar with them but good to know. All I know is my '70s Thinline quickly became my #2 guitar out of the box (well...maybe #3 now. I recently got a Getsch).
My kid got the satin sonic blue vintage strat a few weeks ago. It's a beautiful guitar. Fit and finish is nice enough for a 300/500 dollar guitar. It's a little rough in the gaps but nothing I'm concerned about. Most importantly, it set up well and has stayed in tune.

I see that the Sonic Blue and Sunburst Strats are priced at $285 right now. That's pretty crazy. I thought the $360 I paid for my Sonic Blue last December was a steal.

I wouldn't recommend buying these new if you have access to a used market, although they are decent guitars to learn/start out with.
