Modern routers allow you to setup an isolated guest Wifi network. I connect all my IoT devices to the guest network so they can't snoop on my other connected devices.

The sensors themselves do not use wifi, they use some low-power low-frequency wireless tech. They use that method to communicate with the plug-in base station, and the base station connects to your wifi network.

I love these Govee leak detectors, they have saved me way more times than they should.

The B5054002 is the older model of these sensors. This is the version I own. They work great, but you need to have hub B07QP153GT if you want notifications on your phone. I see that some of the 3 packs contain this hub. This version is not smart home compatible right out of the box.

The H5043+H5058 are the newer version. I believe one of those model numbers is for the new hub and new style of detector. This one appears to be smart home compatible right out of the box.

SDR (software-defined radio) stick can listen the 433Mhz frequency and rtl433 library can decode the signals from those sensors and deliver events to Home Assistant via MQTT.

I have these under every sink and next to every appliance that uses water. They work so well! Alert is loud and notifications work perfectly. Battery lasts a long time also.

I bought the package on BF with 13 sensors (max) that the system can support. I placed them in the crawlspace and various locations. I can tell you now; it works as advertised. When there is a leak, the app & the hub will wake you up. Worth every penny. I haven't replaced the batteries in almost 2 years. I just checked on the app and they are still full.

I'm in for 1 of the gateway and a 5 pack. Been wanting something like this for a while. Unfortunate they don't have an easy integration into HomeAssistant. Hate having to manage multiple apps for home stuff. But can't really beat the price.

I was considering these, but noticed several of the reviews that mention only 2.4 GHz network compatibility (ok fine, I have dual band) and difficulty pairing because it doesn't support AES encryption so some users had to either downgrade their encryption level or unencrypt altogether (yeah, no thanks). Are these complaints/limitations true? And if so, are they addressed in the new (long range?0 model that appear to be unavailable at the moment?

Same thing happened to me. Water leak from the hot water heater. I was not home at the time but received an alert so I got home in time to drain the water heater to prevent any damage. At this price, it is a steal.

I had the hub and 3 of these previously. I bought the 5 pack of sensors and set them up today. With the hub, these things are a breeze to set up. Great product in my opinion.

Question: I noticed today that when I tested the sensors out, I got both a notification on my phone and an email when they sensed water.

Does anyone know if my phone has to be on in order to get the email notifications? (ie. does the phone app trigger an email to be sent out? or is the email sent out independent of the phone app?)
