The HomeKit are a different model
Edit: Saw the first big Amazon review and I'm turned off, nevermind. I don't want mandatory cloud or having to take the microSD card out to clear old footage. Any recommendations for a better local/network storage doorbell cam alternative would be awesome.
I have had the Kasa Doorbell now for several months (using with a MicroSD card), and I absolutely love it. They have fixed the problem that you read about in the review (read newer reviews). I don't have to take out the MicroSD card to clear space for new recordings, and I can save recordings to my phone through the app.
It does a great job with notifications, which are separated by Motion, Person, and Doorbell Press notifications (you choose which ones you want to be notified of on your phone, and they're differentiated by different colors in the recordings).
We set up an older Amazon Echo Show to announce when a person is detected or the doorbell is pressed. I believe newer Echo Shows can display the doorbell cam video, but mine cannot, as it's an older model.
The primary thing I don't like is that the chime can't be hooked up to my existing house doorbell chime, only the included one that requires plugging into an outlet somewhere. Not a big deal, though.
Definitely! I still use two Kasa Smart plugs and three Kasa Smart bulbs that I acquired through such deals. Very intuitive to use, and they work great! I prefer the Kasa plugs to the Amazon ones.
If I recall, they were around $1-$5 each if ordered through an Alexa device on special promos, but I haven't seen those deals in a while.

The reviews are a mixed bag in part because the description is weird and seems to imply that you need cloud storage. You don't. You can record everything locally on an SD card and record clips on your phone from the footage. Cloud is needed if you don't want to use the 24/7 recording feature and instead want the camera to automatically record motion clips only but I don't see the point when an SD card can record over a weeks worth of video and you can go back and record before and after the motion alert if you want. The camera saves all the alert times and all you have to do is tap on it to automatically go back and see the footage from that point. I also have no idea what that one guy is talking about but I've been recording 24/7 for months now without having to remove the SD card to clear the old footage. I almost backed out from his review but then I realized that if it was true and not just a one off defect or something, pretty much every review would be complaining about it. No one would keep a camera they have to remove and manually wipe every week.
I actually like it more than my old Eufy cam and it's a third the price.

Does it auto delete when the SD card is full or do you have to manually delete things to maintain its recording capabilities?
It auto-deletes the oldest to make room for new recordings. I haven't needed to remove the MicroSD card to make more space when it was full.
