Just because you've never heard of AWOL doesn't make it "generic". Read up on the company and products before commenting.

The LG you're referencing is single laser with a color wheel. This is triple laser. Also this projector does 3D and has better input lag than the LG for gaming which could be important for a segment of buyers.
Repairs can be an issue through with lesser known brands. Once these things fall out of warranty, good luck getting parts for less than the price of the projector, if you even can get them. That said, it could be the same for all projectors, but I would absolutely think twice about spending $2000 on anything that isn't a big brand name.

Everybody has to start somewhere. You can't depend on the big companies for niche products all the time. 3D is a niche, and Sony, Samsung, etc have completely failed the consumer on the TV side of things and haven't done a whole lot better on the projector side.

Honestly 2k or 5k is not that big of a risk compared to some laser projectors that are 10k, 20k, etc.

This (2500 or 3500) is the absolute best UST projector you can buy with every feature you could want. It blows the competition out of the water. Also with it's new Dolby Vision update coming out soon, it won't be beat.

Certainly this is true with VAVA or Wemax, basically zero CS. Even the big brands (LG, Samsung, Hisense, Optoma) can be hit or miss depending on what your problem is. I can tell you from experience (and the experience of several other owners) AWOL has top notch customer service. If you have any problems they are super responsive. One on one tech trouble shooting via video conference. If there is a failure they will overnight you a new projector.

AWOL may be built in China, but they were designed by and for enthusiasts.

It should. In place of a dedicated "smart TV" platform, the AWOL projectors have an Amazon FireTV stick plugged into an HDMI port in a hidden compartment in the back. So anything app you can get on FireTV, you can get on this.

I really wish they had a deal on the 3500. I think I've got my choice narrowed down to either the Formovie Theater or the AWOL LTV-3500. They each seem to have their pros and cons, so I was really hoping one or the other would have a Prime Day sale to make the choice easier.

Same here. I've got the 2500 and love it but of course ultimately want the 3500 but it's so darn expensive. The 2500 is best bang for your buck currently. The Formovie is really great too. If I didn't care about 3D I'd likely be trying the Formovie.

Question on sound quality. Says Dolby ATMOS. how is the sound? I am no audiophile but really dont want to get a speaker system unless absolutely necessary. Appreciate inputs.

I don't really "care" about 3D. It's kind of cool and I have some old 3D BluRays laying around that I'd probably break out from time to time, but it's by no means a system selling feature for me. Really the big appeal of the AWOL over the Formovie for me is the light output. The room I'm planning on putting it in is a loft. I'll add blackout curtains so I'll be able to light control the room to some extent, but there's always going to be light bleed from under bedroom doors, the staircase, etc. in that room.

I'm not a fan of the built in audio on this, but that's difficult to judge since I'm so used to the great sound on my Sonos arc. I'm betting built in audio on any UST probably sounds pretty terrible to my ears.

I've never seen a good projector or TV with good sound. You could literally buy any sound bar or even a older eARC capable sound system for a better experience that what is likely a tiny 2.1 setup.
