You don't know what you're talking about. Go look up the reviews of the R700. It was repeatedly awarded "speaker of the year" in 2022.

Wow...very ignorant statement. I dont own these, but do some research BEFORE you post such nonsense. I always considered Polk a garbage brand, but these particular speakers apparently are truly special.
And honestly, there is very likely No better speaker for $1,800 (or even $2,500) a pair.

Tell that to my Polk S55s. They aren't the best speaker in the world, but I still can't believe the sound that comes out of them.

$900 can get you Martin Logan 60xti that are on sale down from $1800.

I have a pair of these. At this level you will need to spend about 2-3x more in order to truly make a meaningful upgrade. Sure there are other speakers at the 2-3k range that sound just as good or slightly better, but its not worth slapping another few grand down for subjective improvements.

Ive demod the R11 Meta, HDI 3800, F226be, Aria 948 , etc.... Ive returned all of them except a used pair of f226bes. The R700 ranks last on that list but it has among the best bass extension and has a solid mid range. Its also much much cheaper and its excellent for HT similar to my JBL 590s. For 2 channel hifi listening, there are better (but more expensive options) but its a excellent all rounder which is why I still have them.

BS. Polk caters to the high end AND low end markets.
I have absolutely terrible Polk speakers. And I have a pair with the ring-radiator tweeters (not this model) that have the best highs I've ever heard.
