I bought this a couple of years ago. Very lightweight and the battery does not last long. Many times I have run out and had to recharge while I still needed it. Made me want to find a better portable worklight with much bigger battery capacity. Still works though, as a plus.

4 bulbs to get 600 lumens? Seems unnecessarily clunky.

Seems to be old stock and batteries are old and do not hold charge.

To be fair the point is to run leds at efficient levels, not just dump energy as heat.

If you haven't found a solution yet, buy the Ridgid LED work lights. I bought a 3 piece combo set for $99 a year or so ago. It came with a ridiculously powerful spotlight, a very bright panel light and a smaller panel light. The beauty of it is you can use a small 2ah battery or go for the all night 6ah battery.

LEDs follow a nearly linear curve for lumens per watt up until their rated output, and running them at lower power isn't significantly more efficient. The main benefit of underpowering them is that it extends the life of the LEDs by lowering the total heat being dissipated by each, but supplying 1 watt to 1 LED is going to give you very nearly the same light output as dividing that same 1 watt between 2 identical LEDs.

These are probably just cheap LEDs being run full tilt anyway, budget lights aren't going to bother too much with trying to extend the life of the LEDs.
