Just leaving this comment here for the benefit of others - This is the Edge (Mediatek processor) and not the Edge + with the Snapdragon processor.

I have a pixel 6a and this Moto edge. Other than the updates, the Moto is a much better daily driver. I've been using it since December and have found it perfectly capable. The screen is impressive and bright. The camera has a larger main sensor than my galaxy S 22, and although the software is weaker, it takes really nice photos that look great even printed out at 8.5 by 11. The speakers are much better than my galaxy or iPhone. The media Tech is surprisingly responsive, although obviously not as fast as the snapdragon in the Edge plus. It's very lightweight and feels nicely balanced in the hand. I'm sure others will disagree vehemently, but I heartily recommend this phone at this price.

The megapixel count isn't what matters on modern smartphones. It's just a marketing figure. The AI software that's processing the photo is what matters. Also, the quality of the sensor is more important than the pixel count. The Pixel 7 line only has a 50MP camera and it's tied with Samsung and Apple's flagships for the best photos. Moto has inferior software than the leading manufacturers. Moto has a phone with a 200MP camera, yet it takes inferior photos to even the Pixel 5's 12MP camera. Depending on what you're documenting, the Moto may still be fine, though. It's not like the photos will be a completely blurry mess. They just won't look as crisp and photogenic.

Do you only need to enter the code once (a-la TracFone) or every time you change network?
Don't think so, my understanding is that once it's unlocked it should work with any company

Been using galaxy for the last 10 years and haven't looked at Motorola in forever. Was about to buy a s23 and just found this. Is Motorola worth the savings and what is the quality/user experience like? Currently using a s20fe and more than happy with it. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Currently on Verizon but about to switch to spectrum mobile for a free line for a year

This. One million times this.

Megapixel count tells you absolutely nothing about what the qualities of the photos on your cellphone will be. There's actually a tipping point where too many pixels on given a sensor can make things worse instead of better.

I wouldn't buy it.
Now they are removing the SD slot on budget and mid range phones.

Just say no if you like on board storage options.

As mentioned earlier. Get the boost edge Plus for about the same price. Much better phone. Fraction of the cost of a s 23

This vs Google Pixel 6a?
I got a 6a a month ago and kind of disappointed with it's dull screen (not bright), so so speakers, and touchy screen. I have the 3a and it's not much of an upgrade IMO. I also have a new Samsung A54 and love it. It's camera is one par with the 6a, but I need less image processing/adjustments with the A54, UI is better for me, brighter screen and more volume to the speakers. Moto's have been good for me, but I would not spend more than $150 for any Moto.

Yeah I ended up buying a moto g 5g 2022 8gb/256gb. Came with a 256gb SD card too. I'm an SD card guy. Heck just my apps and what not, I'm already down to 100gb internal. I keep my photos on an SD card and when I get a new phone, it takes me seconds to transfer everything via SD card swap. If I water damage my phone or it gets corrupted, I just pop my SD card out and move along.

FYI, expendable storage is not fast enough for modern phones. It provides a poor user experience. I'm not referring to the vast majority here. We understand. But an average customer would say that their phone is laggy when using expandable storage.

Same here, Photos, I want accessible, Video, ebooks, Music MP3s, Netflix offline etc. New, phone, move card. Out of space, bigger card. Done.

If you move APPS onto an an SD card SOME may be slower. Some may have no issues at all. If find one that is slower, keep that one on internal memory. The rest are no issue.
I run 4K 60fps video off a cheap no-name 512gb SD. No problems. A52 Phone, previously LG v30. Both ran 4K without any problems or lag.

Removing the SD slot is just another money grab.

Apple started it AFAIK, then the Android flagships followed suit, with Google leading the pack. People that pay a lot for a phone are obvouisly a good test market to see if you can get some more money out of them. What are your options? More on-board memory at a much higher price point and profit since the phone manufacturer makes the profit off that or a subscription to an on-line service.

Well since this worked on super expensive phones, now they are apparently moving that business model to mid-range and cheap phones.

S@%w them. I wont support it.

Just started looking into it. Anybody know if the boost unlocked will work with spectrum? My current phone is unlocked from Verizon but won't work. Spectrum won't guarantee unless I have the imei and don't want to invest the money without knowing for sure. Any help or guidance is greatly appreciated

Not in my experience. Basic cards are running 100+r/w. I use my SD for 4k video and 50mb photos. Zero lag.

Average user wouldn't notice lag because they are going to do average user stuff. I would maybe experience some lag if I had high demand apps on my SD card but I don't do that, nor would an average user.

Internal storage runs about 500 read & 250 write. My SanDisk extreme 200/100. We're not talking about insane differences here.

Dear internet, is this phone better than the s20 with a cracked screen that is falling apart? Asking for a friend.
