I didn't own Linesman Pliers for too long. I initially got them for electrical like I'm sure everyone else did, but they're now my favorite go to pliers for a ton of stuff. Bending/cutting light metal, crimping, pulling staples/nails, and of course wire (both electrical and wire rope/steal wire twisting/cutting). If you're going to own just three pliers:
- Needle Nose
- Medium Adjustable/Slip-Joint
- Linesman
Knipex make great ones, as you'd expect, but regardless you're doing yourself a disservice if you don't have Linesmans in your toolbox.
$41 is the MSRP, Amazon's prices are almost always going to be less than suggested retail price and they never claimed otherwise. KCTool[kctool.com] (the source for German tools) confirms the $41 list price, with a current price of $34.85, so the Amazon deal seems pretty good in comparison (if you can get free shipping).

I'm just comparing it to day-to-day price on Amazon and informing fellow users. If it was $41->$25 on Amazon, that would certainly be a better deal. Given that they are normally close to the price though, it's not nearly as good of a deal. I find it exhausting to figure out what a deal might be when everything is constantly on a "deal" - MSRP doesn't matter at that point.
What criteria do folks use for picking these? I'd like a pair of Linesman pliers for home electrical stuff, but I can't decide. Both Klein and Knippex have 5 gazillion varieties of Linesman pliers in different lengths, different head shapes, different handle and body materials.

Just ignore the crossed out price that you won't be paying anyways and compare the actual price that you might be paying with what other's charge for the same thing and what the product has been on sale for in the recent past.
Do you see anywhere with a better price than this? Has it been on sale recently for less? If no and no, then I suggest that this is a pretty good deal.

I don't know why people get so hung up on "list price" being shown... pretty much every retailer in existence does that kind of stuff to make their sale prices look better. It's nothing new nor is it unique to amazon so it's pointless to call out.
They've been this price constantly. I got this pair 3 weeks ago. They're combination pliers not linesman's by the way, they have an 'American Linesman' model that's $40 across the couple different models. I would have gotten that if it weren't 2x the price

I prefer the high leverage 240 length ones.
It's about a $5 discount
