Bought one last summer and it's been great. It survived a winter here in Connecticut (though mild lately) and its going strong. No leaks. The stake is surprisingly solid and has not shifted.

Be careful getting it in the ground though. Unlike some of you lucky folks with silky smooth soil, mind is riddled with rocks and pebbles up the wazoo. Hammering the hose stand too hard can cause the bottom part of the shaft to recede into the main one.
While it can be used that way, that's not really what this is for. This is for relocating a faucet/spigot to a more convenient location further away from your house without underground plumbing, such as near a remote garden bed, next to a pool to rinse grass or dirt off feet before entering the pool, etc.

What's the benefit to having this, a foot or two away from where the spigot is on the house, rather than just having your hose coiled up on the ground next to the house?

off the top of my head; its neater and more aesthetically pleasing, easier to coil (especially for older gardeners who cant bend over as easily), less muddy/dirt covered hose which is why im getting it. in for 2!

Agreed. If you're going to get a hose storage like this, you might as well pay more and get an enclosure. That way the hose is more protected from UV light, which can rot it. Something like this makes things look a little cleaner and organized, but that's about it

It may only be Walmart+ it's still showing but .01 less then this. $23.74. I got the year(a few days ago) which is still going I think for $49 it's a killer deal.

Sorry wasn't sure if you had Walmart+ or not to see it since a lot of these are only for + members for a week.

Many hose spigots are more near the ground or have landscaping obscuring the spigot. So this could be to keep your house spigot higher up and away from the house.
