Bought one last summer and it's been great. It survived a winter here in Connecticut (though mild lately) and its going strong. No leaks. The stake is surprisingly solid and has not shifted.

Be careful getting it in the ground though. Unlike some of you lucky folks with silky smooth soil, mind is riddled with rocks and pebbles up the wazoo. Hammering the hose stand too hard can cause the bottom part of the shaft to recede into the main one.
While it can be used that way, that's not really what this is for. This is for relocating a faucet/spigot to a more convenient location further away from your house without underground plumbing, such as near a remote garden bed, next to a pool to rinse grass or dirt off feet before entering the pool, etc.

That makes sense, would you just use a different hose instead of the included 3 foot short connector I guess?

Many hose spigots are more near the ground or have landscaping obscuring the spigot. So this could be to keep your house spigot higher up and away from the house.
Yup, just another of many uses Smilie

Correct, it even kind of explains that in the description. (EDIT: Meaning that the NOW included extension appears to be the less common way of using this).

"Don't stay trapped against your house — simply connect your water source on one side, your hose on the other, and relocate the stand to a more convenient location. Or, if you want to tuck the stand against your home, Aqua Joe now comes with an included 3-ft tap extension hose that connects your outdoor spigot to the hose stand."

I have several smart timers that need a little help in picking up wifi, and currently they sit on cinderblocks so they don't lie at ground level. Now this stand would rise them further, but I don't trust that spigot and connector hose, not to mention that I would need three or four of them. Just for the riser I would take the general idea and MacGyver something better. Aqua Joe, the bar is low!
