Glad to see they are ending this product in a cool way. Amazing device back in the day and still pretty competitive even today. I have tried a majority of the lower end (not $2k) iFi products and have never been disappointed.

I have been looking to get a compact and easily transportable desktop DAC/amp combo unit that performs well.
How does it stack up against the Topping ex5 or the Grace m900? I have seen people compalin that it does not have... Bluetooth, potential channel imbalance at low volumes, and audible popping noise during power on/off. Does this popping noise have any negative impact on headphones? Additionally, I've noticed some users mentioning that it can become slightly warm when used in a desktop setup. Does charging and using it simultaneously have any long-term effects on the battery life?

I can't answer the two comparison questions. I can say iFi stuff is generally neutral with a slightly warm tilt. Works well with rough recordings without removing all the detail. OK for the rest... no Bluetooth, my old one didn't have channel imbalance but any real pot can, there was a tiny pop but not nearly enough to hurt headphones. It does have multiple gains so you can easily get out the imbalance range. It does get a bit hot when running, but you can also run this purely on USB and battery which is cool. That is also how they get the 4 watts of output. This is meant for a high end laptop setup. If you are stationary there are probably better options.

I never had channel imbalance, but not having BT id not the issue for me,,, because bt to me is not audiophile... but conviniencephile Smilie

warm, likely yes, because it has battery, so you are constantly charging it. it can def function as a desktop unit, but imo, prob best to be used on balance and a 2year warranty really helps with that, imo

I was looking at the Ifi hip dac 2 to use with sennheiser hd 600. Is this way better than that? Probably quite a bit more than I wanted to spend on something like this but it does seem like a pretty slick deal.

this was their flagship for a long time, until they introduced diablo model.. so this is still their 2nd highest end portable product, so yes, imo better and much more versatile

For a couple of years, I ran into QC issues with iFi. Units were replaced but I spent a few months (combined) waiting for the resolutions. Was I an outlier or did they improve?

The cost and the warranty make it so I'm considering coming back to iFi. Nice deal!

Have you ever had a comprehensive hearing test? I'd bet you can't hear some frequencies.

This is a great deal I got it a few years ago cuz I couldn't hear one of the birds chirping in a song that I like to hear just really pulled out the extra sound
