Agreed. It's been an awsome budget card. It's been good to me at 1080p. This seems like a decent deal for someone that doesn't have interest in building their own pc.

Getting rid of old stock. They had RGB blinged it out to convince you enough and nice enough to give you a 600w gold unit. The 3100 4c/8t is decent and overall great for anyone that doesn't have a PC.

If you were to DIY, you get way more performance with the RX 6600 and get a free copy of Starfield. Skip the 4100 and look for a 5500 deal that was $80 not too long ago or find a used 3600.

Bought the 1050i version of one of these years ago, it did its job. Still using the mobo (sadly an a320m) and the cpu (R5 2600), everything else has been upgraded. Skytech makes it easy to upgrade, just do what I didnt do, research the mobo. If I knew then what I knew now, I would have skipped solely on the mobo alone.

That CPU is going to be a bottleneck for that weak GPU. But both the CPU and GPU need to be upgraded since they're old. You might as well build a better newer one for the same amount.

Built a mATX with 5600g, 600w psu, rx590 for less. But still a decent buy for someone who wants a no hassle set up.
You bought a 5600G, a 600W PSU, RX590, case, Motherboard, 512 SSD and 16 GBs of RAM for what, $450?

Not to hijack the thread but has anyone heard of VTG thru newegg? I saw this and thought about going for it but couldn't find anything on VTG.

Is this a 100% new build? What OS did you go with, and at what cost?

See my build lists. Easily build a 2600/3600/5500 with a RX 580 8GB for $400.

On a related note, my son is in the market for a budget gaming pc and wants a prebuilt. Wants to keep costs under $750 ish. We realize there are significant limitations with these constraints.

Any thoughts on the below or any suggestions on something better?

https://www.monoprice.com/product...q8EALw_wcB

https://skytechgaming.com/product...4-3200mhz/

Or a Victus by HP 15L Gaming Desktop TG02-0346st with Intel® Core™ i5- 12400, 8 GB DDR4-3200 MHz RAM (2 x 4 GB), 256 GB PCIe® NVMe™ M.2 SSD, AMD Radeon™ RX 6500 XT Graphics, Windows 11 for $580 (sorry can't seem to post a link to cart)

Thanks for any thoughts!

I would grab one of these and call it a day. The HP is a decent but you lose half of the SSD, RAM and weaker GPU and $157 more for the 10400 is simply not worth it. The 1660 Super is about 20% better than the 6500XT. Although, you do get a better CPU in the HP. On the AM4 platform, you have options to upgrade the Ryzen 3 3100 to a 5600/X, 5700X, 5600X3D(MicroCenter), 5800X3D if you need extra CPU power down the line. And with the updated CPU, along with a 600w PSU, if you need more FPS and play at 1440p/4K, I recommend a RX 6700XT/6750XT 12GB or possibly a RX 6800 16GB since both use similar power or next gen RX/RTX. Grab the Skytech Blaze 3 if you want the best/most performance of the 3.

You flipped CPU and GPU, but yeah, we get the gist.

Why spend 500 dollars on a pc that's on the fringe of being obsolete , if you can afford 500 now then save up and buy something better.
