dont make the mistake that many of us made in the past of stock piling these batteries as they will leak after about a year.

Free is not worth it for batteries that are pretty much guaranteed to leak and possibly ruin the device they're being used in.

It's not really free. Why. Because you get sucked in to use your rewards and you end up buying another item at a premium.

1. Cheap postage stamps on fleabay are likely counterfeit from a shady seller. Not a good move.
2. Spending $15 (+tax, with typical price match) on these batteries and recycling 10 ink cartridges will get you $35 rewards and some batteries for your $15 (+tax) spend. Some people think that is a good deal; others do not.
3. Crap at Walmart isn't that cheap anymore.
Postage stamps bought on ebay may or may not be counterfeit - however, the Post Office almost never checks for counterfeit stamps anymore. In fact, numerous estimates out there say that 40% of all the stamps these days are counterfeit. It is one of the many reasons the Post Office continues to lose money. As to your second point, recycling ink only helps if you live near an OD, which many people don't.

This is my first time hearing about OD 100% rewards. Trying to understand what that is. I do have an OD account but never really use it.

Anyway if I buy, say the 16 pack AA for $25.69, does that mean I get $25.69 in rewards back for the next month?

Once you join the rewards club you are able to take advantage of these offers when they become available. In this case you would buy the batteries you would like (LIMIT 2) and then you will get the same amount in rewards that you may use on almost everything of the site. Your $25.69 example is correct. There is an expiration date to use the rewards that is a few months away. Make sure you join the rewards club prior to your first purchase of these batteries.

P.S. I am reading that people have had theirs leak. In the 15 years I have been buying this deal I have not had that happen.

More likely the next day. Bring in 10 ink carts and and PM to Amazon on a 16 pack ($12.87) and you will have $32.87 the next day (24-48hrs)..

wrong in many counts.

they do care about the counterfeits. if they dont, the gov will. their income is monitored by the big guys. its not just a delivery service but its related to national security as well. its one of the reasons my government teacher told us why the usps must be under the government control.

the usps is not losing money. they are making tons of money every year. its the union that is killing it. they promised too much to the previous generations before our economic collapse. that generation just happened to live too long. they just dont die so they keep collecting the (very good) pensions. basically, they are eating the new hires alive.

I've had them for many years through dozens of these deals. Never had leaky batteries.
Same here. Never leaks. Live in a dryer environment , not sure that matters.
I buy them, and use the rewards to pay for the next time I buy their batteries and get another reward. rinse and repeat.

While the USPS says in official statements they go after counterfeiters (what else do you expect them to say), the reality is they don't.

From the NY Post in 2010, "

But the counterfeiters apparently don't have much to worry about.
Detecting fake 44-cent stamps is way down on the list of things overworked Postal inspectors are concerned about.
"They'll crack down more on those tending to be higher quantity mailers," said a Postal source, and not folks trying to slip an envelope or two through without paying.
Helping the counterfeiters even more is the fact that the number of Postal inspectors is way down and things like suspicious packages are much higher in priority.
And although counterfeiting (and even using) fake stamps is a federal offense, it is not the sort of crime that gets prosecutors' hearts racing."

https://nypost.com/2010/10/28/cheap-tricks-3/

And in 2018, another NY Post writer tried to warn the USPS about a counterfeit stamp operation and the Post Office wasn't interested (see link below). To quote the USPS:

"Very interesting, the inspectors said. "But what would you like us to do? We can't stop the mail machines every time we detect a fake," they said."

https://nypost.com/2018/05/16/i-t...operation/

So to point #1, if the stamps you get on ebay are counterfeit, the USPS will do nothing about it (maybe if it looks like your 2 year old drew the stamp by hand, they might actually return it). Do a search on the internet, you will be hard pressed to find anyone telling you a mail they sent got returned because the stamp was counterfeit.

As to your point #2, the post office does not make money, they lose money every year and continue to lose money. They have a dying business in first class mail, virtually the only people who mail anything any more are elderly people - most people under the age of 40 are lucky if they mail 2 or 3 letters a year. Even in the package business, they get crushed by FedEx and UPS. The only time USPS is cheaper is for packages that weigh very little or are going short distances. Why do you think virtually all packages that you get from major companies like Macy's or Best Buy come by UPS or FedEx?

How do you manage to get rewards back when paying with rewards when OD changed their rewards policy over 5 years ago to prevent rolling?

Quote :
Rewards are earned on the final price paid at checkout for an item or service,

Excluding:
  • tax and delivery fees,
  • after all discounts are applied and
  • after deducting the value of any free gifts with purchase and the value of any reward and/or merchandise certificates/cards applied to that purchase.
