It's also manual ranging so the dial's got a million settings to confuse/fluster people unfamiliar with multimeter use. Not saying this is a bad deal, but I definitely prefer an auto ranging meter.

thanks for that info and for warning me off this particular one.

Do you happen to have a quick recommendation. I'm going to have to come up to basic speed on my old (30's) house electrical system before I hire an electrician to fix multiple issues up, and a simple multimeter I think is a little start in that direction.
