I personally wouldn't buy these knives, but if you do go for the plain steel.
If you don't mind spending more, but want an entry quality knife go for mercer or victorinox. I have mercer's bread knife and its great. It does go on sale from time to time.

I personally wouldn't buy these knives, but if you do go for the plain steel.
