The 8500 is a great chip and the oldest I would go as a daily driver.
If you are patient you can get the 5060 or 7060 on Ebay for a similiar price.
5 and 7 series come with a better motherboard chipset.

Lol. My over a decade old 2nd gen i3 would beg to differ. Not everyone needs bleeding edge specs or graphics for whatever their case use is on these. All my desktop does is store my wife's iTunes library. We have other devices for gaming and media consumption. These are just fine for some things.

it get's so tiring that people think they need high end equipment, um you don't. i am typing on a 12 year old desk top with updated SSD and ram: Does Fine. unless you have a Real Need for something better. if you do, then i5 8th gen Intel may do.

This is particularly true if you avoid Windows. A Linux distro like Ubuntu runs fine on older hardware for people that need something for web, email, documents, photo storage, etc.

If you can get over the initial setup hurdles and customizations to make it feel "Windows-like", it's a really nice setup. I'm running Ubuntu on an older laptop and it's like it's been given a new lease on life.

Does anyone know if the disk is easily replaceable? No matter how cheap the device I can't get myself to use a HDD for booting the OS and running applications in 2023.

Are you going to carry a monitor, keyboard and mouse everywhere as well? Why not take a cheap laptop instead?

Last time I got the i5-8400 version and realized its HDMI port is only 1.4 version, which means the highest it can go is 4K 30Hz, despite the fact that UHD630 is capable of doing 4K 60Hz…

Would somebody explain why I'd want that several-year-old used junk, which is clearly either from a corporate buy-back or a lease return, when you can find actual micro-computers with brand new tech on Amazon for cheaper? Please don't say "because it's Dell," because that wouldn't go into the "pros" column.
Because this junk still works?
