Just leaving this comment here for the benefit of others - This is the Edge (Mediatek processor) and not the Edge + with the Snapdragon processor.

Call 833-428-1765 for Costco TMobile and you don't even have to go to the store at all. I did this deal on Sunday.

I believe Iphones will unlock automatically after the 40 days, but I believe you are correct that the sim has to be in place 40 days straight, so you cannot pop it in for a few minutes then remove it for 40 days.

The sim card doesn't need to be inside the phone for 40 days for unlock.
As soon as you use the sim card inside the phone and make several calls and/or send several text messages so that t-mobile system tracks it successfully and register it in the database, you can remove the sim card and put inside whatever phone you want to use, and this new phone will unlock after 40 days after you pay off the eip balance.

If you go to Costco, it was a painless experience. Took a grand 10 minutes to upgrade two liines and got the EIP email after 3 minutes of sign up. The rep seemed to be very knowledgable as I am guessing she must have done moto edge upgrade few times already.

Trade in many black berry 8330 in the past directly thru tmo.com/facebook . Never had any issues with locked/esn. Ship to assurance and accepted
Quote from dashfw :
I did. First call, my locked phones weren't accpeted. Second call, they still said phones were locked but asked if I wanted to continue anyway. I did and they later again warned me that locked phones might get rejected. If they do reject the phones, I'll show them the screen cap of the offer that says "any phone, any condition."
As for the Costco gift card, they said I wouldn't get it if I had already received a gift card on the upgraded phone lines. That's a new one to me and doesn't seem correct. I'll have to wait and see.
Thank you guys.
Will go to the costco store and report back

I did this deal today at Costco. Showed up with a truly busted up old Blackberry with missing battery and battery cover.
TMO rep didn't bat an eyelash at the phone.
At least with missing battery and door the IMEI was easily readable.
Pretty sure this phone hasn't been turned on since the 1990s.
So I am guessing your Note 4 missing battery will be fine.

this is a cheap phone, the unlocked brand new 256GB bigger size sells for around $200 + on motorola site, amazon and other sellers. The 156gb should be around $150.

thanks. I received my phone today from TMo. It's surprisingly light and feels good in my hand. The back is plastic, but it doesn't look or feel cheap to me.

Hmmm... 6.6 inch is small? How times have changed. I remember Steve Jobs saying that 3.5 inch is the ideal size for iPhone and now we are not happy with 6.6 inch phone. lol

Btw, when did a 144 Hz phone became cheap and let's not forget it has 8 gb ram? smh

Also, I would advise people to check reviews on this phone. I checked on gsmarena, this phone has too many call problems for me.

It had call problems with older firmwares, like calling/texting fails with full bar signal and a quick toggle of airplane mode can fix it immediately.

With firmware updates, the calling problem seems fixed or less frequent.
So it's most likely a software problem, not hardware issue.
Also the camera has shutter lagging issue, especially right after opening the camera app, and you will run into cases that it takes photo a few seconds after you hit the shutter button and you will miss your shot. It is also likely a software issue and fixable with future update.

Thanks for the input. I currently have a Moto One 5G Ace and having call problems I just restart when they occur. That seems to fix it but of course it doesn't help when on a call. I assume most phones have software issues. Just kidding and kind of serious; I think that's how they keep us buying new phones.

Is there anywhere on the paper work shows that there will be monthly credit from T-Mobile or P444 promotion? I'm looking through my paperwork and don't see that but seeing it mentioned the phone is financed and the monthly payment of $xx.xx. just wanted to make sure it was done correctly and not that I'm buying the phone and financing it for the full price. FYI I'm trading in phone

Go to your T-Mobile account online and check "account activity" section or "promotions" or EIP section. It will mention credits in those places.

It will not show on the paperwork. The promotion does not get applied until you satisfy all requirements, ie they receive and accept your trade in. After the trade in is accepted, you should get a text confirming enrollment in the promo and it should show on your account in the EIP page and the promo page.

I did two and currently it shows the promo on only one of the lines on the promotions page. New phones have not shipped yet and have not turned in trade ins yet.

One trade in was a Moto E6 and the rep selected "only moto edge 2022 ID230021" for device make and model which I guess auto-attached the promo to that line. The other trade in was a REVVL V+ 5G which auto populated make and model in the system and she couldn't change it. I fully expect the system to automatically apply the promotion once I turn in the trade in. If not, T-Force is usually pretty good about ironing out kinks like missing promos that the system messes up.

I will go in the costco store this weekend hoping to get this deal
Anyone like me have called in costco tmobile # and got trade in phones rejected because they said it shows those phones are locked but called again got the deal went through? Just thinking to give the call# a final try but like to see others experiences first.
I called 4 times already and got all sorts of stuff that they made up....phones are locked, have to use the new moto phone for 24 months in order to get the credits, etc......
Samsung trade in actually is much easier believe or not!! When Samsung says any phone/tablet/earphone any condition, they meant it and no imei # required and if there's issue with trade in, a simple online chatting could always get it fixed...
T-mobile never makes any promotion easy to be honest
I had similar poor experience. Tried explaining to them sim locked does not equal imei blocked. Spoke to a few different agents at this Costco T-Mobile sales dept and all were using similar tactics.
