As soon as you use the sim card inside the phone and make several calls and/or send several text messages so that t-mobile system tracks it successfully and register it in the database, you can remove the sim card and put inside whatever phone you want to use, and this new phone will unlock after 40 days after you pay off the eip balance.
As for the Costco gift card, they said I wouldn't get it if I had already received a gift card on the upgraded phone lines. That's a new one to me and doesn't seem correct. I'll have to wait and see.
Will go to the costco store and report back
I did this deal today at Costco. Showed up with a truly busted up old Blackberry with missing battery and battery cover.
TMO rep didn't bat an eyelash at the phone.
At least with missing battery and door the IMEI was easily readable.
Pretty sure this phone hasn't been turned on since the 1990s.
So I am guessing your Note 4 missing battery will be fine.

Btw, when did a 144 Hz phone became cheap and let's not forget it has 8 gb ram? smh
With firmware updates, the calling problem seems fixed or less frequent.
So it's most likely a software problem, not hardware issue.
Also the camera has shutter lagging issue, especially right after opening the camera app, and you will run into cases that it takes photo a few seconds after you hit the shutter button and you will miss your shot. It is also likely a software issue and fixable with future update.

I did two and currently it shows the promo on only one of the lines on the promotions page. New phones have not shipped yet and have not turned in trade ins yet.
One trade in was a Moto E6 and the rep selected "only moto edge 2022 ID230021" for device make and model which I guess auto-attached the promo to that line. The other trade in was a REVVL V+ 5G which auto populated make and model in the system and she couldn't change it. I fully expect the system to automatically apply the promotion once I turn in the trade in. If not, T-Force is usually pretty good about ironing out kinks like missing promos that the system messes up.

Anyone like me have called in costco tmobile # and got trade in phones rejected because they said it shows those phones are locked but called again got the deal went through? Just thinking to give the call# a final try but like to see others experiences first.
I called 4 times already and got all sorts of stuff that they made up....phones are locked, have to use the new moto phone for 24 months in order to get the credits, etc......
Samsung trade in actually is much easier believe or not!! When Samsung says any phone/tablet/earphone any condition, they meant it and no imei # required and if there's issue with trade in, a simple online chatting could always get it fixed...
T-mobile never makes any promotion easy to be honest
