I got in with the orginal deal without any issues. There was a lot of misinformation in the orginal thread, but yes, all you have to do it just activate the phone with the fi app, then take the Fi SIM out and never touch it again (sock drawer it, trash it, etc). You can pop in a SIM from another carrier with no problem. After 120 days have passed you can verify that it's finalized in your fi account > savings > earned. At that point you can do whatever you want, the discount is yours to keep.

I think a significant difference here is we are not getting the storage upgrade for free? I got this deal last time but got the s23 ultra with 512gb for the same price as they are offering the 256gb.

If you are existing customer having active line, then only this offer will show. Even if line is paused , you can use this promo.

If you had bought any device earlier and about to finish your 120 days from earlier deal, then you can buy the phone , wait for earlier promo to be done and then activate the new phone on same line. Just make sure , activation is not after 30 days from delivery Date of new device

I'm a previous customer, not currently active but all I see is the option of getting bill credits.
Very strange, after loggin in and choosing the phone, I get the option to purchase outright for sale price.

Good deal, 120 days works fine earlier this year, I did it for my mom who was running an old Moto on her fi line and upgraded her to an S23 regular for maybe $100 cheaper than the current promo.

Fi is great if you travel internationally and don't need to use the phone a ton, she was able to text and use data in a few countries this year when they traveled around Europe and Asia. Sometimes its spotty but if you don't need to be on the phone all the time it seems good.

Just keep in mind Samsung is introducing the new Fold and Flip 5 in a few days so its not surprising the S23s are starting to get cheaper. The S24s aren't due out for a while though.

help me understand if theres a way around this, i read all the posts but I'm a little iffy on e-sims i don't really grasp that concept in my old age.

My wife has fi, i have tmobile. I need a new phone, she does not. If I buy this deal for her, is there a way she can continue to use her services with her phone, or is it in stone that she must basically use the s23u for 120 days until she can give it to me?

Fi is horrible service provider. Good luck getting someone on the phone who cares if there are any issues at all and trust me there are lots. There's like 5 buttons to activate/transfer/port on the fi website and none of them work.
That's interesting, I ported out a couple weeks ago using the website and didn't run into any problems.

You can use the S23U on any carrier.
The only thing you have to worry about is using the fi SIM/eSIM that comes with the new S23U, you don't want to use the new fi SIM on anything else other than the S23U it came with.

I took that deal with trade-in S22 Ultra from Sumsung.com. This looks better than that one

Got this in Feb at same price and free 512GB upgrade, but I think this price is as good as it gets.
I was upset Samsung didn't offer the same "deal" upon release as they did with the S22 series so I kept looking around for deals. Got the $599 price in late Feb/early March without the storage/RAM upgrade bonus. So I think $599 must be the sweet spot.

For anyone else interested in this. I waited 4 calendar months plus maybe a week before I cancelled my service and I've had no problems. Luckily I'm primarily an AT&T customer so I switched AT&T to an eSIM and put the Google Fi physical SIM in (this deal requires a physical SIM to be used (at least when I got the deal)).

Google fi is the worst possible carrier I have ever experienced. Coverage is on the worse side. There are very frequent hang ups when you are in a call while driving (in St. Louis area. YMMV). You can't use data simultaneously when you're in a phone call. These completely threw me off

600 at this point for an old phone isnt good at all... especially with the 4 month choke hold.
S23 Ultra an old phone ? release date was February 17, 2023 bounce

so it is actually just 5 month available , all other samsung or Iphone are much more older

599 or if you count in the 120 days 699 inst bad for an ultra with no trade in needed
