I got in with the orginal deal without any issues. There was a lot of misinformation in the orginal thread, but yes, all you have to do it just activate the phone with the fi app, then take the Fi SIM out and never touch it again (sock drawer it, trash it, etc). You can pop in a SIM from another carrier with no problem. After 120 days have passed you can verify that it's finalized in your fi account > savings > earned. At that point you can do whatever you want, the discount is yours to keep.

I think a significant difference here is we are not getting the storage upgrade for free? I got this deal last time but got the s23 ultra with 512gb for the same price as they are offering the 256gb.

Is this promotion still active? Do you know till when it stays active or the promotion end-date?
I am planning to port to GoogleFi tomorrow and then take this phone after 2-3 days.

Ordered this one (S23U) thru Fi (acct with my email), it has arrived and now I want to use for my wife (different email). Having done this promotion last year for myself (S22U) I am familiar with the activation, not use sim in other phone part. Question is - Do I activate first with my email, after the counter starts, remove sim, and reset the phone to be set up with another email (and of course sim from T-mob number that she has) OR can I just activate(set up) with her email to start - it will still go thru the Fi app (in my name) anyways. Any guidance/experience would be appreciated. Thanks

You have to activate the phone with the Fi app logged into the same Fi account (email address) that bought the phone. (Log into your Fi account-->Your Plan-->scroll down and you'll see that the S23 already has its SIM assigned with the phone number of your current account).

Once the S23 SIM has been activated and the countdown started, you can remove the Fi SIM, uninstall the Fi app, delete your Google account from the phone. Then add your wife's Google account to the phone and sync it with her current Google account to get her apps, contacts, calendar, etc downloaded to the S23.

BTW, if you bought this phone as a current Fi member with an active line, the Fi app will transfer service from your "old" phone to the S23 at activation.

How do I get the 10-dollar credit for the BYOD sim, it doesn't show on my account.

Also, they are shipping another sim card to me, do I cancel it?
I didn't get the option to select "I already have a sim" on the app.

Regardless I can see the deals on the app, I will wait a few days before ordering.

The S23 will cost 399.99 + 80 - 20 (referral bonus).
So basically $460 excluding taxes, which is a decent deal.

Also, OP should edit the S23 storage details, I thought it was 256GB for 400 before ordering the sim.
Hi I faced the same issue. While ordering from the website I could not find an option to deselect the SIM Card . As soon as I clicked on BYOP , it would automatically add the SIM Card

I called up the customer care to check what should be done for this . So they said that since we had purchased it from a retailer we should be getting a 10 $ credit to cover the SIM cost in the first statement.

For the additional sim card being shipped it is free and there are no charges to it and can be ignored. The customer care said this can be used in the future if you want to add another member to the group

I didn't get the "I already have a SIM" option, so they're sending me another sim, but whatever, I'm not really going to use this (and if I do decide to switch, I'll have to keep this line for 120 days even if I port my phone #). I have a bill finally showing under billing as 'finalizing' so I'm going to wait a bit more for it to finalize and then order
First billing date is mentioned in the following link

When to expect your monthly statement
In most cases, your billing cycle is set on the day you activate your service plus two days
However, if that date (activation plus two days) falls on the 1st, 28th, 29th, 30th, or 31st of any month, your billing cycle will be set to the 2nd of the month. For example, if you start your service on June 26th, 27th, 28th, 29th, or 30th, your first billing cycle will end on July 2nd, your next on August 2nd, and so on.
In my case , the "finalizing bill" got displayed in 2 days from activation . On the third day ie today I have received the bill on email and post that the status changes on the FI app or website.

I have purchased the S23 Ultra today and hopefully the rest of the process remains seamless as well .

The people who are activating the FI SIM from 26th July onwards need to be careful that their first statement will only be generated on 2nd August 2023.

Thanks for finding and posting that link. I had done 7 Fi deals (five S22s, one Pixel 7, one S23) and most billing periods started 2 days after activation. But one was activated on 12/27/2022 and the 1st bill didn't start until 1/2/2023. I thought it was due to some year-end delay, but now I know the reason.

So we should wait for the billing to start to order the phone ? Or it's just for informational purpose or to calculate the 120 days from billing start date ?

For the s23 deal on google fi it always shows 24 months credits to get cash back. How do I do it with 120 days instead?
Link to the terms, https://fi.google.com/about/promo...eBZxpAAYA. Can you send me the link to the terms you are seeing?

If FI follows its past, this deal should be active until s24 is released next year.
