I got in with the orginal deal without any issues. There was a lot of misinformation in the orginal thread, but yes, all you have to do it just activate the phone with the fi app, then take the Fi SIM out and never touch it again (sock drawer it, trash it, etc). You can pop in a SIM from another carrier with no problem. After 120 days have passed you can verify that it's finalized in your fi account > savings > earned. At that point you can do whatever you want, the discount is yours to keep.

I think a significant difference here is we are not getting the storage upgrade for free? I got this deal last time but got the s23 ultra with 512gb for the same price as they are offering the 256gb.

I cancelled a few Fi accounts and was quite disappointed with the refund. I only got back a few dollars of credit for the unused days of the last billing period. I knew that the unused Fi referral credit would be forfeited, but I was sort of expecting the unused trade-in credits to be refunded, but got nothing. Some of my Fi account had as much as $35 in unused trade-in credit.
I have about $150 credit b/c they gave me more for my cracked s21 then was promised . Doesnt it stay on the account?

I don't know if it stays in the account and is usable. Below is what I see today in an account that I closed in June. They've refunded only $1.31 to my credit card. The balance shows a credit of $55.01 ($35.01 excess trade-in credit + $20 referral credit). I do see the "Rejoin Fi" option for that account but I have no needs to, so I don't want to click on it and get billed again.

Yeah, I clicked it and now my account is stuck in limbo. I wonder how much will be charged if I reactivate on flex plan and immediately pause

Fi prorates the bill down to the hours used but let's say they charge you for one day. A typical monthly Flex Plan bill is less than $30 including taxes and fees. So it should be no more than a buck for one day.

Yeah, the balance on Fi Savings is always different than the credit balance they show with your statements

So are you doing this deal, $600 for an Ultra with 4 months of service - do you think its that good?

No, I'm not doing this deal, I still have my base S23 256GB that I got in Feb with the pre-release deal which was much better with $500 discount and a $310 iPhone11 trade-in. I'm posting in this thread to provide some help for people who do the deal.

A word of warning about the funny way Fi does billing when you paused and resumed service.
* I paused my account on June 24 and the July 6th bill shows a credit of ($10.89) for the remaining 11 days 16 hrs.
* I resumed service on July 20 to check out this deal. The Aug 6th bill shows they're charging me $20 - $10.89 = $9.11 in real money for service from Aug 6 to Sep 6.
* Although I have a lot of credit left from referrals and trade-in, they only used enough referral credit to pay for the partial service from July 20 to Aug 6, plus taxes & fees.
* With their funny accounting, I have to pay $9.11 with my credit card while have $28.85 credit sitting unused.

I'm not doing this either but I did the preorder deal with 512GB bump. More than storage, the imp thing to me was increased 12 GB RAM. However, this is the best deal you are going to get for S23U (you can search for S22U deals to the best price they can be had). As I have the phone since then, it's a great one. Camera is better (at least for our use cass) then my wife's iPhone 14 pro. Samsung also has a trade in every where where you can spend $250 to upgrade to next ultra so this is good for trade in later on. Hope this helps!
