I stopped buying instant oatmeal once I realized how easy it is to make. I used to think you had to sit there and babysit it while it boiled, but really all it needs is to soak in hot (sub-boiling) water until it's done.
I picked it up for my kids last sale, to last until our blueberry bushes started having enough fruit some was leftover for the fridge. My daughter commented the fruit pieces were meh, and the consistency was poor (I used to make steel cut oats with a fuzzy rice cooker when she was in HS). My teenage son considered it acceptable emergency breakfast food, but it took him two months to eat six packets, which means he was keeping his deal that if I ordered it, he would eat it. I'm not even asking if they want it again...
