I have used them both because my friend reviews tech products for a living and I go over and play with them. This is a much stronger processor. It also supports a desktop mode and the a54 does not. This has a glass build wireless charging and a lot more flagship features.

Major benefit to the a54 is that it's going to be updated for a lot longer.a54 we'll get Android 13 and 14 and 15 and this will probably just get Android 14. And it won't get security patches for as long.

Personally I would go with the Motorola but if I was recommending a phone to a casual user like my mom or my sister I might lean with the a54 just cuz it'll be secure for a longer period of time and they probably wouldn't make use of the flagship features like the desktop mode or the stylus.

The Motorola also has stylus support with an external stylus you can buy, an amazing desktop mode with a dock. Definitely a more premium piece of hardware

Yes this been going on for awhile in The Feb thread.

Was thinking of getting one but
Slow Moto Android upgrades, no dual sim, avg cam, large size stopped me.

Was going to get it for $50 with in store port in...but boost stores charge MSRP tax, activation fees, and higher plan... Similar to metro stores...so I didn't go that route.

Just a little review here. I received the phone on Monday and have been using it since. For $200 this phone is a steal. I am updating from a Oneplus 9 that I got last year on a Slickdeal from Best Buy for $150. The biggest issue I had was that it was only 128gb and the OnePlus 7 I had before was 256gb. This being 512gb takes away any space concerns which were a big problem before. The Snapdragon processor is top of the line and for me the Ready Now is a real game changer. I am able the phone on my desktop during work and now I don't need to use the phone itself at all for most things. It will also be great for using on vacation. I can just plug it into any hotel tv and have a desktop like experience or watch whatever I want from the phone. I was able to unlock it right away from Dr. Unlock on eBay who was recommended in the wiki. I am having the tracfone issue mentioned but I will order a new sim to have it transferred before the month of Boost is over. I also use Google Voice as my primary number so the actual service or phone number doesn't matter. No need to port my number when I switch services. I am no expert with cameras and i'm sure the cameras here will meet my simple needs. Overall this is a great deal to get a top of the line flagship phone at a great price.

So I bought the half price $25 SIM card from the website. Did I waste my money as I don't get to get the phone at discount?

Do I need to repurchase a $40 SIM card to get the phone discount?

I logged on to my account portal and saw there's an upgrade option. But all of the phones listed are of the original retail prices. They are nowhere close to the prices advertised o the main website?!

Yes of course that's probably because those prices are from new customers you're no longer a new customer

yup, and on top of that. the below suggest boost ME+ 2022 will get no updates.

which i find hard to believe
I don't know one way or the other but from prior experience with carrier branded phones, I do know that they don't always get the updates that the unlocked models do and often aren't released concurrently. Fairly recently, I dealt with that while using a TMO branded OnePlus. Apparently, the carriers do their own testing and seem to take their sweet time in doing so. Im sure that I waited atleast a year longer and I'm wanting to say it was closer to 2 years to get that update from TMO while unlocked models had been updated long prior. I definitely wouldn't put it past fruition for the Boost Edge+ to not get updated but I'd like to think that isn't the case. I'm typing on one now and it's a pretty darn good phone for $200 I paid.

have the phone listed.

its odd , why single out boost? lol

Thinking about getting in on this.

Any reason this phone wouldn't work on Cricket or overseas after using E Bay unlock code?

got this edge+ 2022 phone and just finished setting it up, used dr.unlock for $1.75 it worked great.

android v12 and 2/23 security update is the latest, hoping we get the promised v13
If you never had any intention of using the phone on the boost network, did you order it with a new # (and therefore the sim came activated from date of shipment)? I am 90% sure I want to try this deal, but this is my last point of anxiety.
So in summary: order phone from boost with *new number*, take out boost sim, get Dr. Unlock code using IMEI, and then put in Mint Mobile sim and use code?

Sim boost is never inside phone boost.

Have a read of the wiki I created

Okay so the boost sim is activated but not inserted.

But was I otherwise correct?

that used to work, according to one of the older edge+ 2022 threads, but not any longer.

same with the $25 sim, but now you have to spend $40 for a sim, the alternative choices that we used to have apparently no longer exist.

i ordered a boost network $10 plan sim under another account name, and that's what i'm currently using in the edge+ 2022.

i guess that we can look at the $40 charge as just part of the purchase price.

this company is not the best to deal with:

1) they pre-activate the sims, which means that there is no resale value
2) they are constantly changing the sales offerings, per my previous post
3) you can't delete your credit card from the account, and it's unclear if turning off auto renewal actually works

correct, if i stay with boost i'll be trying to port in a number that i want to keep.

yes, that's how it worked for me, i even plugged a tello sim into the phone and i could see the tello number that's associated with my tello account, on the phone.

however, i did not see wifi calling as an option, and this edge+ 2022 phone does show that as being available with the boost sim... need to research that some more, perhaps it'll become available after registering the phone on tello, but i'm not sure that's what i want to do.

5g is significantly faster than the 4g on my old phone, and the tello sim enables 5g on this edge+ 2022 phone.
