I have used them both because my friend reviews tech products for a living and I go over and play with them. This is a much stronger processor. It also supports a desktop mode and the a54 does not. This has a glass build wireless charging and a lot more flagship features.

Major benefit to the a54 is that it's going to be updated for a lot longer.a54 we'll get Android 13 and 14 and 15 and this will probably just get Android 14. And it won't get security patches for as long.

Personally I would go with the Motorola but if I was recommending a phone to a casual user like my mom or my sister I might lean with the a54 just cuz it'll be secure for a longer period of time and they probably wouldn't make use of the flagship features like the desktop mode or the stylus.

The Motorola also has stylus support with an external stylus you can buy, an amazing desktop mode with a dock. Definitely a more premium piece of hardware

Yes this been going on for awhile in The Feb thread.

Was thinking of getting one but
Slow Moto Android upgrades, no dual sim, avg cam, large size stopped me.

Was going to get it for $50 with in store port in...but boost stores charge MSRP tax, activation fees, and higher plan... Similar to metro stores...so I didn't go that route.

Just a little review here. I received the phone on Monday and have been using it since. For $200 this phone is a steal. I am updating from a Oneplus 9 that I got last year on a Slickdeal from Best Buy for $150. The biggest issue I had was that it was only 128gb and the OnePlus 7 I had before was 256gb. This being 512gb takes away any space concerns which were a big problem before. The Snapdragon processor is top of the line and for me the Ready Now is a real game changer. I am able the phone on my desktop during work and now I don't need to use the phone itself at all for most things. It will also be great for using on vacation. I can just plug it into any hotel tv and have a desktop like experience or watch whatever I want from the phone. I was able to unlock it right away from Dr. Unlock on eBay who was recommended in the wiki. I am having the tracfone issue mentioned but I will order a new sim to have it transferred before the month of Boost is over. I also use Google Voice as my primary number so the actual service or phone number doesn't matter. No need to port my number when I switch services. I am no expert with cameras and i'm sure the cameras here will meet my simple needs. Overall this is a great deal to get a top of the line flagship phone at a great price.

got it.

ya im a bit paranoid abt that.

perhaps overthinking it too much.
[but not doing custom rom/rooting etc...maybe in my younger days..not anymore]

do u have one of these?

price is good .and cannot be beat.

[main reason i created this thread.]

unless it drops by another 50 bucks in 3 weeks. lol.
Yeah I bought it a little over a week ago from the previous thread. Just before this price drop. RIP me lol.

Phone hardware is great through. Unlocked it from dr.unlock on ebay and have been using it on tmobile no problem. I'm upgrading from an older midrange moto phone so seeing this thing run high bitrate 2K video and the latest 3d mobile games is pretty impressive. Was able to install the latest security update from Feb and have it rooted already.

What are you so concerned about that you need security updates super often? My previous phones were left un-updated for years and I never ran into issues. Usually by the time year 3+ comes up the phone battery starts going bad and the user experience becomes really poor with the phone slowing down. Security updates aren't going to make my battery better or speed the phone up.

Phone isn't as popular so there's no easy guide specifically for this phone. I followed this guide for modern motorola phones: https://forum.xda-developers.com/...d.4222583/

If you want to search detailed info on this phone it's model XT2201-3 code name hiphi. It's also named Motorola Edge 30 Pro in other markets.

Correct. You're looking at $190+tax since $40 service is required.
I can't find it but I remember there was a trick to be able to get this with the $20 plan.😁

That loophole has been closed for a while now.

I ordered this morning around 11am est. And 2 hours later found the price update. Chatted with the cs and was told that they can't do nothing. I have to wait for the phone to arrive and then request return. What a silly company. Anyone know if they will refund the full amount(including the 1 month service fee) if I don't open the package?
Usually, You can't request return for prepaid service...
If you reject the package, they may refund the phone , but you may lose $40 for the service, you fill complaint through your cc company
