I have used them both because my friend reviews tech products for a living and I go over and play with them. This is a much stronger processor. It also supports a desktop mode and the a54 does not. This has a glass build wireless charging and a lot more flagship features.

Major benefit to the a54 is that it's going to be updated for a lot longer.a54 we'll get Android 13 and 14 and 15 and this will probably just get Android 14. And it won't get security patches for as long.

Personally I would go with the Motorola but if I was recommending a phone to a casual user like my mom or my sister I might lean with the a54 just cuz it'll be secure for a longer period of time and they probably wouldn't make use of the flagship features like the desktop mode or the stylus.

The Motorola also has stylus support with an external stylus you can buy, an amazing desktop mode with a dock. Definitely a more premium piece of hardware

Yes this been going on for awhile in The Feb thread.

Was thinking of getting one but
Slow Moto Android upgrades, no dual sim, avg cam, large size stopped me.

Was going to get it for $50 with in store port in...but boost stores charge MSRP tax, activation fees, and higher plan... Similar to metro stores...so I didn't go that route.

Just a little review here. I received the phone on Monday and have been using it since. For $200 this phone is a steal. I am updating from a Oneplus 9 that I got last year on a Slickdeal from Best Buy for $150. The biggest issue I had was that it was only 128gb and the OnePlus 7 I had before was 256gb. This being 512gb takes away any space concerns which were a big problem before. The Snapdragon processor is top of the line and for me the Ready Now is a real game changer. I am able the phone on my desktop during work and now I don't need to use the phone itself at all for most things. It will also be great for using on vacation. I can just plug it into any hotel tv and have a desktop like experience or watch whatever I want from the phone. I was able to unlock it right away from Dr. Unlock on eBay who was recommended in the wiki. I am having the tracfone issue mentioned but I will order a new sim to have it transferred before the month of Boost is over. I also use Google Voice as my primary number so the actual service or phone number doesn't matter. No need to port my number when I switch services. I am no expert with cameras and i'm sure the cameras here will meet my simple needs. Overall this is a great deal to get a top of the line flagship phone at a great price.

Hey Desi,

Do you have any idea on whether Boost will ship the phone to a address other than the BIlling address?
I want the phone to be shipped to be friend but I would be paying for it(implying that the card I use for payment is linked to my address).. is that possible?
Coz, when I tried placing the order, I see that only Billing address is being asked and not the shipping address so wanted to confirm if thats even possible.

Thanks
If you have a prepaid virtual card like Revolut or Privacy it can accept any billing address. If you don't have it is very easy to open account online and start using it within minutes!

If you are willing to spend that much ($700-800), might as well get the S23 Ultra 256GB from Google Fi for $600 + about $100 in service charges. Much better phone in almost every way. Better cameras, wireless charging, better trade in values in the future, longer support. The current promo is for existing Fi customers. You should be able to activate Fi with a BYOD sim and then order the S23 for $600. Keep service for 120 days otherwise they will claw back the discount. The phone is unlocked an can be used on any carried from day 1. Just don't put the Fi SIM in any other phone. Fi even has a counter on their website that shows how many more days you need to keep the service active to earn the promotion.
No, not better in many ways. Many people prefer the overall experience Oneplus offers, and the 11 is a fantastic device. I've had enough Samsungs, and I'm tired of their bloatware, annoying interface, and other things. Samsung is not the only answer in Android, despite what some people think. And I'm not messing with all that Fi nonsense, I bought unlocked because it's MY device to do with what I choose, from the beginning and forever.

So I just did this deal when it was about $260 for everything It's a way better deal now
I have had the phone for 3 days it's very simple

You order the phone wait for it get to your house. It will come with a SIM do NOT EVEN touch it.
You want to use your old SIM card example I have T Moblie; This phone comes with a cable to do a app and data transfer that's really cool
Setup the phone without the SIM
Go to DRunlock on ebay hit him up on whatsup buy the service it's $4
Make sure he is online he legit took me 2 minutes to be done I did this on whatsup with him I'm sure you can use ebay message as well
He will ask for the IEMi number of the phone give it to him; he will unlock your phone
Put in whatever Service you want to use on the phone for example my T Mobile Sim
Connected to the network I am all set.
It's really that easy at the current price point It's a no brainer the phone does run a bit hot so get a good case
It does suck up the battery a bit due to the big screen
So far I like it.
NEVER activate the boost mobile they can't charge you, Like he said don't even sell the sim it as your info on
You can even block the boost mobile emails if you want
It's a very simple and easy process.
I don't have boost account to disable auto pay and I selected new number option when ordering the phone. Is it still valid to not insert sim card to create account? I mean I won't be able to disable auto-pay without account.

To each their own, I guess. I have been happier with my Samsung flagship devices than any other phones I have owned. I tried the Pixel 7 Pro when it launched and was quite disappointed. My S22 Ultra 256GB has been the best phone I have owned. Zero issues with any "bloatware" etc. And having a Samsung phone has (literally) paid off in the form of multiple $25+ gift cards they have handed out over the years (most recently got two $30 Atom codes, and two $25 gift cards to the Microsoft Store). The only thing I don't care about is Bixby, but it is easy to disable it now.

In terms of the Fi "nonsense". It's not that hard at all, and us SDers have taken on far more difficult challenges. Lol. But yes, you appetite for that may be different from mine. The Fi phone is unlocked from day 1 and you can use it anywhere. No need to unlock it. It is better than a lot of these locked phone deals as you get a factory unlocked model, and not a carrier specific model that you need to unlock. You just need to keep the $20+tax service activated for 120 days. Just set a reminder on your calendar and you can cancel service with a couple of clicks. That's it.

In the end, I am happy to see good phones in the Android ecosystem, so I'm glad that the OnePlus 11 is a good phone and that you like it for it's merits. Every phone has pros and cons, and some of those are subjective. So far, Samsung has worked for me the best, and I have used Android phones from the day they were launched (Windows mobile before that).

You better create an account and log in to disable autopay. Unlike Metro, Boost enables it by default. I created an account online and disabled autopay. It wasn't hard. I haven't even received my phone yet. Also, once you disable it online, no need to do it on the app. I downloaded the app as well, and it showed that autopay was disabled, so I didn't have to do it twice.

I got the phone today and unlocked via eBay per the wiki (thanks for that!). It looks to work on Verizon prepaid but Verizon is saying the phone isn't compatible with their network. They said that it may work now but just stop working later... anyone have any experience with this? Thanks.

Verizon always claim non Verizon phones will not work with their system. I think this is policy so if something goes wrong they can claim that because it's a non supported device.

That being said, there are often issues (or at least there used to be prior to the move to GSM) regarding some features. I have never had issues with calls and SMS with non Verizon phones, but occasionally group and MMS messages wont go through. Hopefully thats no longer the case. I used to have to use 3rd party messaging apps with custome settings to get it all to work... but I don't remember the details. Can probably search for workarounds on XDA if you encounter similar issues.

I got $30 in Microsoft credit, many Fortnite skins in the past, atom credit, and other nice offers. Being a Samsung user has its perks.

Honestly, everything else aside, you won't find a better phone for this price, imo. Sure, it's not a "premium" brand like Samsung or Google, but you're getting the same (or in the case of the pixel, better) processor as last years' phones. As someone who had an S22 Ultra and Pixel 7 Pro, I much prefer the 2023 moto edge+ I have. And the 2022 has a NON curved screen which I would consider better. The weak point for motos compared to the others is the camera, but otherwise you are getting a basically flagship experience for $200. The average user will be very happy with this phone.

This is the best you will find in the $200 range. Has the same processor as the Samsung Galaxy S22. Plus it has 512gb which usually carries a hefty price.

No need to post alternatives at this price cuz their isn't.

This is a very good phone for the price! Comparing with other >$700 phones is outright stupid.

Android 13 is finally rolling out to various variants in the US. This variant will receive it shortly but expect that to be the last version this will get.
Another con is being single physical sim. No clue how to unlock or turn on the esim (I think it is disabled in firmware as it lacks imei2)
