I have used them both because my friend reviews tech products for a living and I go over and play with them. This is a much stronger processor. It also supports a desktop mode and the a54 does not. This has a glass build wireless charging and a lot more flagship features.

Major benefit to the a54 is that it's going to be updated for a lot longer.a54 we'll get Android 13 and 14 and 15 and this will probably just get Android 14. And it won't get security patches for as long.

Personally I would go with the Motorola but if I was recommending a phone to a casual user like my mom or my sister I might lean with the a54 just cuz it'll be secure for a longer period of time and they probably wouldn't make use of the flagship features like the desktop mode or the stylus.

The Motorola also has stylus support with an external stylus you can buy, an amazing desktop mode with a dock. Definitely a more premium piece of hardware

Yes this been going on for awhile in The Feb thread.

Was thinking of getting one but
Slow Moto Android upgrades, no dual sim, avg cam, large size stopped me.

Was going to get it for $50 with in store port in...but boost stores charge MSRP tax, activation fees, and higher plan... Similar to metro stores...so I didn't go that route.

Just a little review here. I received the phone on Monday and have been using it since. For $200 this phone is a steal. I am updating from a Oneplus 9 that I got last year on a Slickdeal from Best Buy for $150. The biggest issue I had was that it was only 128gb and the OnePlus 7 I had before was 256gb. This being 512gb takes away any space concerns which were a big problem before. The Snapdragon processor is top of the line and for me the Ready Now is a real game changer. I am able the phone on my desktop during work and now I don't need to use the phone itself at all for most things. It will also be great for using on vacation. I can just plug it into any hotel tv and have a desktop like experience or watch whatever I want from the phone. I was able to unlock it right away from Dr. Unlock on eBay who was recommended in the wiki. I am having the tracfone issue mentioned but I will order a new sim to have it transferred before the month of Boost is over. I also use Google Voice as my primary number so the actual service or phone number doesn't matter. No need to port my number when I switch services. I am no expert with cameras and i'm sure the cameras here will meet my simple needs. Overall this is a great deal to get a top of the line flagship phone at a great price.

Was there any issue with Boost, like a termination fee?

I currently have the Moto Ace 5G with a 5000 mAh battery and I previously had the 2020 Moto G Power, and battery life was superb with them. I suspect this Edge Plus will have a significant decrease in battery life due to the OLED screen. Not sure what refressh the screen can run at, but I don't need anything over 60hz, and I know that will be ideal for optimal battery life. If this phone is going to have worse battery life then I'm going to pass. Given it is impossible to find a swappable battery anymore in a decent phone I justhave to get the one with the longest life.

It's prepaid, so no termination fees. Just buy with PayPal. After that turn off auto pay in PayPal for Boost. That's it. They will never charge you again.

No...I had the 2020 Edge (non plus) and got 12-14hrs screentime compared to about 18hrs on my G Power 2020.

I wonder if there's a good GCam version for this phone that can potentially improve the photographic quality

If you need a really good phone, get an iPhone lol. If you must have an android, I'd say stay away from Pixels and Oneplus entirely.

My girlfriend is a Java developer (actually a senior full stack solutions engineer) and was a diehard android supporter...but years of horrific experiences with Android OS and nearly every manufacturer has her finally switching to iPhone as soon as the newest model is released. She's exhausted with hardware issues, lack of updates, poor customer service, and oceans of bugs and interoperability issues.

Go iPhone. Thank me later.
You replied to someone asking for a phone under $200. So, where are iPhones under $200?

Just the top 3 will do.

Actually Motorola hasn't streamlined the firmwares for different carriers' variants.

Different carrier variants still have different firmwares and different boot animations, just that Motorola put some (but not all) of the big three us carriers' configuration files/apps inside every us carriers' variant so that the phone may work better on other carriers after unlock.

For specific carrier variants, you get more carrier bloadwares, beyond those same carrier configuration files/apps, from the specific carrier.

That's why the boost version will still have boost mobile boot animation and bloatwares even if you put another carrier's sim card inside.
For example, the dedicated Verizon variant has much more verizon blooatwares/apps than those verizon apps/configuration files you can find/disable on the T-Mobile variant.
If the firmware is streamlined, it will show the boot animation for the carrier of the sim card inside.

Actually, Motorola phones for different carriers even have different model numbers.
Yup.

World phone is the XT2201-1.
Verizon is XT2201-4
Boost i believe is the XT2201-3
China is the XT2201-6

Question. I hear people saying buy with paypal, or use a throw away credit card with the exact amount on it.

I just used my normal credit card. But i just got a $25 Amex gift card in the mail.

So for "insurance" should i:
wait for the full amount to be charged
turn off auto pay
switch to the gift card
turn off auto pay again?

I have an unlocked Moto Edge+ 2022 and received the Android 13 update last night/this morning

Don't know if the one in the OP would receive, but why not?

Ordered this yesterday- will update with how the unlock process goes

Edit: Couldn't have been easier. Bought the code, sent the seller my IMEI, had a code in 40 seconds. Seller gave the instructions to put in the code, worked right away. Boost canceled my service without any fight, and now it's working great on Verizon 5G. A+ experience.
