SDs for those 2 phones are with Metro (and has 6mo hard lock).

$60 OnePlus N30: https://slickdeals.net/f/16793174-128gb-oneplus-nord-n30-5g-phone-for-metro-by-t-mobile-1-month-5g-unlimited-plan-60-free-shipping?src=SiteSearch

$90 Pixel 6a: https://slickdeals.net/f/16644218-metro-by-t-mobile-128gb-google-pixel-6a-30-days-service-new-line-90-port-in-65?src=SiteSearch

If you can wait for 6 months, these are cheaper than the $190 Moto deal.
N30 is a lot slower Chipset. Edge+ uses similar Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 as samsung S22.

Yes. You can change plans on the Boost One app. I don't know why Boost gets such a bad rap. I've had them on my personal (non-business) phone for about 8 months, and because of the points they let you accrue on the app, I haven't had to pay a monthly fee in all that time other than the initial signup fee.
Thanks! How cheap of a plan can you move down to off the $40 one that you have to initially sign up for?

$45 every three months. I don't know if there is a way to do it on a monthly basis.

To each their own, I guess. I have been happier with my Samsung flagship devices than any other phones I have owned. I tried the Pixel 7 Pro when it launched and was quite disappointed. My S22 Ultra 256GB has been the best phone I have owned. Zero issues with any "bloatware" etc. And having a Samsung phone has (literally) paid off in the form of multiple $25+ gift cards they have handed out over the years (most recently got two $30 Atom codes, and two $25 gift cards to the Microsoft Store). The only thing I don't care about is Bixby, but it is easy to disable it now.

In terms of the Fi "nonsense". It's not that hard at all, and us SDers have taken on far more difficult challenges. Lol. But yes, you appetite for that may be different from mine. The Fi phone is unlocked from day 1 and you can use it anywhere. No need to unlock it. It is better than a lot of these locked phone deals as you get a factory unlocked model, and not a carrier specific model that you need to unlock. You just need to keep the $20+tax service activated for 120 days. Just set a reminder on your calendar and you can cancel service with a couple of clicks. That's it.

In the end, I am happy to see good phones in the Android ecosystem, so I'm glad that the OnePlus 11 is a good phone and that you like it for it's merits. Every phone has pros and cons, and some of those are subjective. So far, Samsung has worked for me the best, and I have used Android phones from the day they were launched (Windows mobile before that).
Yeah, that's all fair. I understand the appeal of Samsung flagships - they're good hardware and sell like hotcakes for a reason. I just happen to prefer what Oneplus is doing rightnow, and I was a big fan of some LG phones because of some of the details they got right (although I'll be the first to admit that they got some things very wrong and cut short promised updates a number of times). I've used Android since its early days in 2009, and the choices it allows for both hardware and software/firmware implementation are wonderful. The closed Apple ecosystem is actually a plus in some ways but I'll take our fractured, multicultural Android world over that, however you like it.

As far as waiting to unlock locked phones and all that, I'm over it. I've endured more than one carrier snafu when switching companies, and letting a device sit for months just so I can use it with my existing account is not something I'm interested. Everyone's priorities and tolerances are different, of course. 1-2 year old flagships have always appealed to me from a value standpoint, and because they really do keep up just fine, but I want immediate gratification these days and money is less of a concern.

My Edge+ showed up about an hour ago. Arrived completely discharged but fortunately this thing charges up extremely fast. I charged it up and did the unlock (via ebay) and this phone works great on the Visible network so far. It seems to be stair stepping it's way through security updates so I'm curious if I'll end up with 13 by the end of it all.

Do you have to call for that or can you downgrade right from your account? Thank you.

This is correct - Nord N30 uses Snapdragon 695, which isn't bad but gets blown away by Snapdragon 8 gen 1. Honestly that's a fine platform for the vast majority of users, but I'd be pretty disappointed with the IPS LCD screen more than anything. The Nord 30 isn't bad at all, on paper, but I just can'tgo back to LCD from AMOLED, personally. I had poor luck with the 2022 Edge+ but maybe I got a lemon, I don't know. It sure seems like an incredible bargain though. Nords aren't bad but this Edge+ is a step up, for sure (assuming it works for you).

Why Visible out of curiosity? Why didn't you just use the $40 plan that you already paid for for the month and then drop down to Boost's $25 plan?

my guess:
most folks do not want to change carriers.
certainly not their number.
[i understand google voice as main number and forward ect.]
i dont think most want to do that either

so unfortunately, with deals like this (& metro deals) where 1 month of service is included.
most folks will not take advantage of the included 1 month

That's interesting. Where did yours come from? Mine came from a warehouse in Indiana, and it came charged and with the Feb 2023 Security update already applied...

I wonder if some other warehouses have older stock...

What implications does that have for your existing phone number? Can you port from Boost to Boost?

Based on the box manufacturing date, mine was manufactured 5/19/22 so it's likely been sitting in a warehouse for 1+ years.

I wanted to stay on the Verizon network.
