I have used them both because my friend reviews tech products for a living and I go over and play with them. This is a much stronger processor. It also supports a desktop mode and the a54 does not. This has a glass build wireless charging and a lot more flagship features.

Major benefit to the a54 is that it's going to be updated for a lot longer.a54 we'll get Android 13 and 14 and 15 and this will probably just get Android 14. And it won't get security patches for as long.

Personally I would go with the Motorola but if I was recommending a phone to a casual user like my mom or my sister I might lean with the a54 just cuz it'll be secure for a longer period of time and they probably wouldn't make use of the flagship features like the desktop mode or the stylus.

The Motorola also has stylus support with an external stylus you can buy, an amazing desktop mode with a dock. Definitely a more premium piece of hardware

Yes this been going on for awhile in The Feb thread.

Was thinking of getting one but
Slow Moto Android upgrades, no dual sim, avg cam, large size stopped me.

Was going to get it for $50 with in store port in...but boost stores charge MSRP tax, activation fees, and higher plan... Similar to metro stores...so I didn't go that route.

Just a little review here. I received the phone on Monday and have been using it since. For $200 this phone is a steal. I am updating from a Oneplus 9 that I got last year on a Slickdeal from Best Buy for $150. The biggest issue I had was that it was only 128gb and the OnePlus 7 I had before was 256gb. This being 512gb takes away any space concerns which were a big problem before. The Snapdragon processor is top of the line and for me the Ready Now is a real game changer. I am able the phone on my desktop during work and now I don't need to use the phone itself at all for most things. It will also be great for using on vacation. I can just plug it into any hotel tv and have a desktop like experience or watch whatever I want from the phone. I was able to unlock it right away from Dr. Unlock on eBay who was recommended in the wiki. I am having the tracfone issue mentioned but I will order a new sim to have it transferred before the month of Boost is over. I also use Google Voice as my primary number so the actual service or phone number doesn't matter. No need to port my number when I switch services. I am no expert with cameras and i'm sure the cameras here will meet my simple needs. Overall this is a great deal to get a top of the line flagship phone at a great price.

You can flash with lolinet by doing the replace file method. However i do believe this breaks OTA. As even though you will have the offical retail rom with a locked bootloader, your software channel will still be DISH and it will forever fail to grab updates.
Have you flashed retail firmware on a boost mobile phone with LOCKED bootloader successfully?
I am 100% sure you haven't.

Stop misleading people to cross flashing with LOCKED bootloader if you cannot confirm it's working.

To other users here: you need to unlock bootloader if you want to cross flash retus firmware onto this phone. Otherwise you will see "preflash verification failed" error and the phone will have a corrupted system and won't boot normally and you will spend more time fixing the system.

Ive seen so much nightmare fuel on cross flashing that i dont recomend it. There have been reports from anywhere from "works great" to "its bricked and i even had an unlocked boot loader".

Im sticking with A12 with the glorious february update. At least i can get the google store updated to june patch.

I feel sorry for anyone who paid $500-900 for this abandonware. Even my oneplus 8 has a newer security patch that this phone.

Cross flashing with unlocked bootloader is very safe because you can manually flash partitions with fastboot command to recover even if the phone is soft bricked.
Cross flashing with LOCKED bootloader is very dangerous and shouldn't be even tried by less tech savvy users unless you know how to fix.

I personally tested cross flashing Motorola phones with locked bootloader, and the only time it succeeded was with flashing retail firmware on google fi version moto phones. That's because the google fi version has the same hardware and partitions layout (such as bootloader version and modem) as the retail version.

For all other carriers' variants, they have different partitions like bootloader/modem,which are protected unless bootloader is unlocked, from those on retail unlocked version and cross flashing will fail with locked bootloader.

I have cross flashed (script & manual fastboot commands) on LOCKED bootloaders on different Moto phones. It's not "very dangerous" - the Lenovo tool restores it if you brick it.

Good price for a good phone. The price is unbelievable.
However, the 2023 version of Motorola Edge Plus supports even better chip performance and better battery IP68 waterproofing and dustproofing.

It's on sale at Boost Mobile for $400
this Thanksgiving.
Expect to sell for 200 to 300 dollars

I'll wait a few months. It's well worth it for the 2023 version for another $100.
Not worth double the price for 2023 model it uses Snapdragon 8 Gen 2

Which carrier version and exact model did you cross flash retail firmware with LOCKED bootloader? Did you flash all the partitions inside the retus firmware?

There is a thread claiming cross flashing retus to boost/metro/tmo version of XT2215-4 with LOCKED bootloader, which is a false claim because the metro/tmo version definitely need to be bootloader unlocked to cross flash the full (all partitions) retus firmware. With locked bootloader, you can only manually flash some of the unprotected partitions like boot animation but not those protected partitions from the retus firmware to the metro/tmo variant. If someone claimed cross flashing retus firmware successfully with locked bootloader, it likely that the user only partitially cross flashed some partitions.

There is only an xda forum moto g stylus 5g for 2021 version, even though people still post about 2022 version in the 2021 version forum.

The lenovo rescue tool won't help you if the system is corrupted and the phone is only recognized as "qualcomm xxx" by Windows.

From what I could find it is significvantly faster in multi-threaded applications, and has better efficiency. And bigger battery, IP68. And can get at&t 5G which this 2022 is strangely incapable of.

Battery life is probably 2x...plus the better thermals means sustained performance is far greater
