Answers to FAQ:
1. Summary: This is prepaid. No need to cancel. Just stop paying. Most will pay the forced first monthly fee (that comes with initial order) and then simply stop paying. best to use a virtual credit card like from citi for example or a privacy virtual card. initial order cost will be ~150 phone +~40 plan+ ~$15 tax= ~$205. create account on boost or get the app. make sure auto pay is off.
2. Phones are locked to boost,
must provide the seller imei of your phone. send the imei in "message for seller" when u pay.
after u pay, u should get the code back pretty quick. as soon as ~10 minutes.
Then put in a non boost sim. phone will ask for code. enter code u bought from ebay seller. u will be unlocked.
you can find many sellers for $2-4.
search for these seller:
dr.unlock or desbloquealord is quite popular and proven .
[posting direct link violates sd term. dont be lazy. search]
once unlocked, should remain unlocked, even if u run updates, factory restore, etc
the package will have phone and sim in same box. but sim is outside of phone box . No need to ever put in boost sim. infact, if u have no intention of using boost, it is probably a good idea not to insert the boost sim ever. do not sell the boost sim. it has your information on it.
8/19: users reporting ebay sellers that sell unlock code are no longer listed on ebay.
2a. Assuming unlocked. Phone has the bands to communicate with AT&T, T Mobile, and Verizon in the US. Your carrier may need to add the phone's IMEI number to their database before it can interface with the mobile towers.
5. after u place the order. in 2 days, the sim card will auto activate. while in transit to you. many folks are upset because this makes u loose 2-3 days while the phone comes to you. shipping time varies. some in CA take 1 week from order date to receive day. in east coast it may be as short as 1 day. once the item is shipped. u can create a account using computer. then get the app on a spare phone. login. then u can see the exact imei they are sending you.
6. Boost, Ting, and Dish TV are now one company. so do not need to unlock if using them
7. only 1 order per email address. if u want more. need new account w new email addy
8. after unlocking.
i. Work:
t mobile
Verizon
Tello
ii. NOT WORK:
Verizon Mobile Hotspot - https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=

good summary :
When ordering from Boost, the choices are getting a new number or keep old number. Should you choose getting a new number, Boost will ship the sim and phone pre-activated meaning you will lose service days when the item is in transit. So for people who want to get a full month of service, they will select keep old number but then go through setup for activation. During this setup, the user can choose either a new number or keep old number.
In order to transfer your At&t number to Boost, you would have to give Boost your At&t phone number, account number, and pin number. If you did that, then the process of number transfer has started. If you did not give that information to Boost, it would be impossible to have your number ported.
Even if you selected keep old number during the order process and chose not to activate the sim, Boost will likely activate the sim eventually. If you selected the keep number option at ordering and have no intention of activating the sim, it might be a good idea to keep monitoring the status of the sim in case it gets activated.
Also be aware that by default Boost enables autopay. Metro for instance has autopay disabled by default.
Activating the sim + disabling autopay is what I would suggest rather than just discarding the sim or trying to cancel the service.
Autopay status can be seen in 2 places. One is on the boostmobile.com site. The other is in the Boost One app. Disabling it in either place is fine.
Be aware that should you disable autopay and then decide to replace the payment method with a different card (like one with a low balance), Boost will re-enable autopay. Whenever there is a change in payment method, autopay will be re-enabled
PSA: Extra 21 dollars back at Boost on Capital one Cards YMMV

Major benefit to the a54 is that it's going to be updated for a lot longer.a54 we'll get Android 13 and 14 and 15 and this will probably just get Android 14. And it won't get security patches for as long.
Personally I would go with the Motorola but if I was recommending a phone to a casual user like my mom or my sister I might lean with the a54 just cuz it'll be secure for a longer period of time and they probably wouldn't make use of the flagship features like the desktop mode or the stylus.
The Motorola also has stylus support with an external stylus you can buy, an amazing desktop mode with a dock. Definitely a more premium piece of hardware
Was thinking of getting one but
Slow Moto Android upgrades, no dual sim, avg cam, large size stopped me.
Was going to get it for $50 with in store port in...but boost stores charge MSRP tax, activation fees, and higher plan... Similar to metro stores...so I didn't go that route.

$200 for the edge plus 2023 + $35 activation fee + $50 plan + $70 tax (calculated from MSRP price).
$355 + $5 for unlock code from dr.unlock makes the '23 edge+ a $360 purchase.
Personally, I don't know if this is $150 better than the '22 deal, but just wanted people to know.
Ported in from metro mobile from a nord n30 deal the other day, I was surprised they let me transfer from a new prepaid account to theirs.
Do you know if the bootloader unlock is the same process as if we purchase a "full unlocked" phone direct from Motorola? Or is there an extra waiting period and a requirement to maintain service with the branded carrier for X amount of time before it is eligible for bootloader unlock?
No matter if it's fully unlocked, or carrier locked, you need wait about 2 days after the phone connects to Motorola's server, and then enable "oem unlock" in developer settings, and request unlock token from Motorola. Otherwise, the "oem unlock" toggle will be greyed out.

The MSRP of 2023 moto edge+ is $799.99 at launch, which is $100 cheaper.
I guess you will see similar deals of 2023 version in the price range of $200-$300 range by the end of this year or early next year.
I skipped the 2022 version for the 2023 version, mainly for the much better battery life (more efficient soc and larger battery capacity) even though I hate the curved screen. I had curved screen on samsung galaxy note phones and not a fan of stupid curved screen.
I will wait and see what happens tomorrow

I am certain that It should work TracFone as well (I don't have TracFone SIM in hand), TracFone is using Verizon network
Thanks,

but to answer ur ?
no one can predict future.
it may get cheaper, it may not.
if u like the deal, need a phone today, get it.
if not wait.
in fact wait till this time next year, and the 2023 may be same 150
pretty simple

I think they sold it for $200 on boost Mobile last Thanksgiving.
But the reason I didn't buy it was because I didn't like the Snap 8 Zen 1.
The reason I want to buy this year is because I like the Snap 8 Zen 2 and the battery and everything else
Except for the curve screen
Boost Mobile is already selling the 2023 for $400 right now. It's easy to guess that it'll be $200 or $300 for the upcoming Thanksgiving.
On Thanksgiving last year, Motorola was selling a 2022 model for $400 Motorola US site
now it's selling 2023 model for $700.
If you want to buy an unlocked Motorola phone for $400, that's not a bad price either.

I'm not in a hurry to get a phone. I'll wait for Thanksgiving to see what's up. I have a Pixel 6 which is good enough. Looking to do some Nintendo Switch emulation with the 8gen 2.
