I have used them both because my friend reviews tech products for a living and I go over and play with them. This is a much stronger processor. It also supports a desktop mode and the a54 does not. This has a glass build wireless charging and a lot more flagship features.

Major benefit to the a54 is that it's going to be updated for a lot longer.a54 we'll get Android 13 and 14 and 15 and this will probably just get Android 14. And it won't get security patches for as long.

Personally I would go with the Motorola but if I was recommending a phone to a casual user like my mom or my sister I might lean with the a54 just cuz it'll be secure for a longer period of time and they probably wouldn't make use of the flagship features like the desktop mode or the stylus.

The Motorola also has stylus support with an external stylus you can buy, an amazing desktop mode with a dock. Definitely a more premium piece of hardware

Yes this been going on for awhile in The Feb thread.

Was thinking of getting one but
Slow Moto Android upgrades, no dual sim, avg cam, large size stopped me.

Was going to get it for $50 with in store port in...but boost stores charge MSRP tax, activation fees, and higher plan... Similar to metro stores...so I didn't go that route.

Just a little review here. I received the phone on Monday and have been using it since. For $200 this phone is a steal. I am updating from a Oneplus 9 that I got last year on a Slickdeal from Best Buy for $150. The biggest issue I had was that it was only 128gb and the OnePlus 7 I had before was 256gb. This being 512gb takes away any space concerns which were a big problem before. The Snapdragon processor is top of the line and for me the Ready Now is a real game changer. I am able the phone on my desktop during work and now I don't need to use the phone itself at all for most things. It will also be great for using on vacation. I can just plug it into any hotel tv and have a desktop like experience or watch whatever I want from the phone. I was able to unlock it right away from Dr. Unlock on eBay who was recommended in the wiki. I am having the tracfone issue mentioned but I will order a new sim to have it transferred before the month of Boost is over. I also use Google Voice as my primary number so the actual service or phone number doesn't matter. No need to port my number when I switch services. I am no expert with cameras and i'm sure the cameras here will meet my simple needs. Overall this is a great deal to get a top of the line flagship phone at a great price.

I use exclusively my Costco visa, and not sure if they offer a virtual card number. May check with them tomorrow.

Wowzer! Even though I would prefer the Motorola Edge+ 2023, this deal at $150 + $40 plan for the Edge+ 2022 makes it really tempting now. So much bang for the buck with this phone now. There is also no guarantee that the 2023 model will go on sale as low as this next year or even near this deal amount. I don't remember seeing motorola flagships constantly having big discount sales yearly.

I think some of the cons are greatly exaggerated and some cons aren't that important to me. Plastic build vs aluminum build isn't that important when I use a case for all my phones. FWIW the Motorola Edge+ 2022 camera has a higher DXO mark score than a Pixel 4a and iphhone SE 2022. I know it's camera isn't on par with a pixel 6a camera but those cameras on the pixel 4a and iPhone SE 2022 cameras are still very good capable cameras to my eyes.

I am quite interested in the Ready For feature. I could definitely see myself using that even though I have a chromecast and a wireless display adapter. I can't get any of my other Motorola phones to work with the wireless display adapter but I guess it could now with ready for.

Saw a review of this phone and not sure if it is worth than twice the price than the Pixel 6a or Samsung A54 from Metro. They said the Camera is mediocre compared to the cheaper phones and colors are inaccurate. Yes I know the most of the things are better about the Motorola Edge Plus but I am mostly concerned about the camera. How long do you get updates for this phone?

Can't beat the price. I ordered 5 days ago and got it yesterday. I used virtual cc card. My build date showed 5/22. So it went thru several updates.
I went into boost account and turned off autopay.
Went on eBay, paid my 2.00 unlock code. Put in my t-mobile sim and done.
Easy Peasy

How are you guys able to use phone on Tracfone Verizon?
Im trying to activate it for my mom but the agent says the phone is not compatible from the imei checker.
I already did ebay unlock on the phone. I know some of you have verizon or visible where you can just swap sim cards but for Tracfone Verizon, you have to activate and use a new sim card (that ties it to the phone imei).
Any help?

Just figured I'd drop an update. I've had the 2022 Edge+ for about 2 months. No complaints here. It's a nice phone. Charges fast, zips through everything, bright screen, battery life is good, and has basically been exactly as expected. I still don't like the volume button placement and prefer an inscreen fingerprint sensor so I guess I do have a couple complaints but they are pretty minor and they are just design choices rather than flaws or screwups. At the price, I'd totally recommend it.

I don't know that anyone actually knows for sure on the updates. Supposed to be 3 years for Android and 4 for the security updates if I remember correctly but the thing is that with the smaller providers like Boost/Mint/Trac/etc, they often don't actually get the updates that the bigger carriers and unlocked models get. I'm not sure how it works exactly but apparently it's a collaborative effort of some sort that the smaller providers just tend to not bother with.

On the camera, I haven't really noticed it being terrible or anything like that. I haven't taken a ton of photos but most of what I have looked fine to me and what didn't was due to external factors like movement. I haven't messed with it in awhile but you could probably use a GCAM apk and likely get better photos that way.

DXOmark is higher than a Pixel 4a and iPhone SE 2022. If someone can be happy with those cameras on those phones, they should be happy with this phone. Grade the camera from what you paid. Not based on it retail price. The camera complaints is justified if one shelled out big bucks. If one pays $150 for a phone, it has to taken in the equation. I wouldn't even compare the pixel 6a because it has a small 6.1" display. I like the phone but the small screen is definitely a con. Apples to oranges comparison. My Pixel 6a is my current daily driver. The Samsung Galaxy a54 5g deals are a better comparison. I have that as well. Large screen phones should be compared with other large screen phones.

It is 2 system updates and 3 years of security updates. The 2023 model gets 3 system updates and 4 years of security updates. I wouldn't let that be a deterance though if the sale price is right. System operating systems are so similar to me. People have used phones that didn't get security updates anymore and been fine. With my older outdated phones, I just download highly rated and popular anti-virus app. I am a believer that manufacturers use security updates as fear mongering so people buy new phones every couple years. Part of planned obsolescence.

I wouldn't mess with gcam for this phone if it isn't necessary. The dxomark performance is high enough that I don't think it is needed. I put gcam on my older motorola phones and it helped. I tried the same gcam apk for the motorola g stylus 5g 2022 and the pictures were all green. Just deleted it. I would stick with the stock camera and it will have more features than gcam. The Motorola g stylus 5g 2022 camera "gets the job done" and I am pixel 6a user. Even the gcam night photography is still nowhere near to that of a regular pixel but it definitely worked for my older motorola phones.

I did the check on TF site it said my phone is compatible. Did you get a new sim you can activate online. I'm using up the data before I try to switch it over.
