Answers to FAQ:
1. Summary: This is prepaid. No need to cancel. Just stop paying. Most will pay the forced first monthly fee (that comes with initial order) and then simply stop paying. best to use a virtual credit card like from citi for example or a privacy virtual card. initial order cost will be ~150 phone +~40 plan+ ~$15 tax= ~$205. create account on boost or get the app. make sure auto pay is off.
2. Phones are locked to boost,
must provide the seller imei of your phone. send the imei in "message for seller" when u pay.
after u pay, u should get the code back pretty quick. as soon as ~10 minutes.
Then put in a non boost sim. phone will ask for code. enter code u bought from ebay seller. u will be unlocked.
you can find many sellers for $2-4.
search for these seller:
dr.unlock or desbloquealord is quite popular and proven .
[posting direct link violates sd term. dont be lazy. search]
once unlocked, should remain unlocked, even if u run updates, factory restore, etc
the package will have phone and sim in same box. but sim is outside of phone box . No need to ever put in boost sim. infact, if u have no intention of using boost, it is probably a good idea not to insert the boost sim ever. do not sell the boost sim. it has your information on it.
8/19: users reporting ebay sellers that sell unlock code are no longer listed on ebay.
2a. Assuming unlocked. Phone has the bands to communicate with AT&T, T Mobile, and Verizon in the US. Your carrier may need to add the phone's IMEI number to their database before it can interface with the mobile towers.
5. after u place the order. in 2 days, the sim card will auto activate. while in transit to you. many folks are upset because this makes u loose 2-3 days while the phone comes to you. shipping time varies. some in CA take 1 week from order date to receive day. in east coast it may be as short as 1 day. once the item is shipped. u can create a account using computer. then get the app on a spare phone. login. then u can see the exact imei they are sending you.
6. Boost, Ting, and Dish TV are now one company. so do not need to unlock if using them
7. only 1 order per email address. if u want more. need new account w new email addy
8. after unlocking.
i. Work:
t mobile
Verizon
Tello
ii. NOT WORK:
Verizon Mobile Hotspot - https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=

good summary :
When ordering from Boost, the choices are getting a new number or keep old number. Should you choose getting a new number, Boost will ship the sim and phone pre-activated meaning you will lose service days when the item is in transit. So for people who want to get a full month of service, they will select keep old number but then go through setup for activation. During this setup, the user can choose either a new number or keep old number.
In order to transfer your At&t number to Boost, you would have to give Boost your At&t phone number, account number, and pin number. If you did that, then the process of number transfer has started. If you did not give that information to Boost, it would be impossible to have your number ported.
Even if you selected keep old number during the order process and chose not to activate the sim, Boost will likely activate the sim eventually. If you selected the keep number option at ordering and have no intention of activating the sim, it might be a good idea to keep monitoring the status of the sim in case it gets activated.
Also be aware that by default Boost enables autopay. Metro for instance has autopay disabled by default.
Activating the sim + disabling autopay is what I would suggest rather than just discarding the sim or trying to cancel the service.
Autopay status can be seen in 2 places. One is on the boostmobile.com site. The other is in the Boost One app. Disabling it in either place is fine.
Be aware that should you disable autopay and then decide to replace the payment method with a different card (like one with a low balance), Boost will re-enable autopay. Whenever there is a change in payment method, autopay will be re-enabled
PSA: Extra 21 dollars back at Boost on Capital one Cards YMMV

Major benefit to the a54 is that it's going to be updated for a lot longer.a54 we'll get Android 13 and 14 and 15 and this will probably just get Android 14. And it won't get security patches for as long.
Personally I would go with the Motorola but if I was recommending a phone to a casual user like my mom or my sister I might lean with the a54 just cuz it'll be secure for a longer period of time and they probably wouldn't make use of the flagship features like the desktop mode or the stylus.
The Motorola also has stylus support with an external stylus you can buy, an amazing desktop mode with a dock. Definitely a more premium piece of hardware
Was thinking of getting one but
Slow Moto Android upgrades, no dual sim, avg cam, large size stopped me.
Was going to get it for $50 with in store port in...but boost stores charge MSRP tax, activation fees, and higher plan... Similar to metro stores...so I didn't go that route.

But I want the display to be always on, so interested if this one has that feature
"Peek Display is Motorola's answer to the Always On display feature found on most Android phones with an AMOLED screen. Except, it is not quite the same since it does not actually stay on all the time and is only there to show you notifications, time and date, and other information at a glance. This way, it is more battery efficient than your typical Always On display.
With Peek Display on, you will see a minimalistic screen showing you the time and date, notification icons, and the fingerprint unlock icon. Touching a notification will show you a preview of it and dragging that notification down to the fingerprint icon will open the respective app. Of course, it will have to be the finger that is registered with your phone.
You can customize it by going into Settings > Display > Advanced > Peek display. This section will let you decide how the Peek display should work. You can tap the screen to wake it up or simply approach it, though the latter option does not work as well. You can also block certain apps or choose the detail to show on this screen for privacy."
With other google searches, there might be a 3rd party app for AOD, but at the price of battery drainage.
Also am I the only one that's happy this phone doesn't have that stupid ass bright white Verizon boot screen. It's like they want it to be a annoying as possible

I've manually looked for a a system updated, and it tells me I have the latest version.

In the past, I remember some of my locked att motorola phones needed an active carrier sim to apply a carrier security update. I don't think they do that anymore especially once the phone gets unlocked.

*#*#4636#*#*
Let me know what bands are available and if 257 258 259 260 and 261 are available
What sucks is that the information on boost website says it has MM Wave available 5G with the little three next to it, But from what I understand it doesn't.
It may be proportion to what SIM you had in the device and the provisioning it does when the sim is inserted.
If you need help finding one go ahead and Google search,"iPhone 13 swappa IMEI"
You're welcome
Just make sure you use an IMEI that's not blacklisted, you're just trying to get them to activate the SIM, you can take the same and put it in any device, that's the benefit of GSM service. Obviously as long as the device is a US device and has it correct bands for example a Chinese phone might not work well. But you could still try.
Anyways, like I said, give them a IMEI you find from an iPhone, have them activate it, and then just pop it into your phone after they claim it's activated and you should receive service right away.
This is what most people do with visible, a lot of times even Verizon phones will say they're not compatible with visible but they clearly are, so what you do is just give them an IMEI of an iPhone and you're good to go, then you can just take your sim and put it in any device that you would like
Anyways, a solution which may or may not work for you,
Is to do this, *#*#4636#*#*
It should pull up phone information there should be a pull-down box somewhere in there that has a radio selection, it should start with LTE, and then have other things behind it , for example LTE/WCDMA/GSM anyways, hit the little arrow to pull down the selection box and select the same radio as the one that's there automatically except pick the one with NR in front of it, for example
NR/LTE/WCDMA/GSM
After doing this you should get 5G immediately, It probably won't survive a reboot just so you know or a SIM insertion etc let us know if you need any help, if you do need help, you can Google that 4636 code with perhaps something like 4636 code phone info radio selection or similar.
Good luck!
Phone this information it's a little bit more clear on what to do Good luck
I got it at best but but I got I working the 5G using these steps I made, I even shared it to the public.
Step 1: Type *#*#4636#*#* in your blue call app on your device like if your going to call someone.
Step 2: Press on "Phone Information"
Step 3: Scroll down and look for this command,
NR/LTE/CDMA/GSM
click it then go back
Step 4: Click on the top right 3 dots on the device and select, "Select Radio Band".
Step 5: Select Automatic after that
Step 6: Then go back and scroll down and press on "Run ping test"
You should be able to see 5G on your phone in seconds after you have followed these steps.

Mom - TF VZW sim
Moto Edge+ - shows as incompatible for TF VZW
Contact CS support to activate a new TF VZW sim + give them imei of old+clean iPhone VZW imei
Put new TF VZW sim iin Moto phone
But wouldn't this count as a "Sim Swap" that another poster said NOT to do? Because TF can suspend your account?
