I have used them both because my friend reviews tech products for a living and I go over and play with them. This is a much stronger processor. It also supports a desktop mode and the a54 does not. This has a glass build wireless charging and a lot more flagship features.

Major benefit to the a54 is that it's going to be updated for a lot longer.a54 we'll get Android 13 and 14 and 15 and this will probably just get Android 14. And it won't get security patches for as long.

Personally I would go with the Motorola but if I was recommending a phone to a casual user like my mom or my sister I might lean with the a54 just cuz it'll be secure for a longer period of time and they probably wouldn't make use of the flagship features like the desktop mode or the stylus.

The Motorola also has stylus support with an external stylus you can buy, an amazing desktop mode with a dock. Definitely a more premium piece of hardware

Yes this been going on for awhile in The Feb thread.

Was thinking of getting one but
Slow Moto Android upgrades, no dual sim, avg cam, large size stopped me.

Was going to get it for $50 with in store port in...but boost stores charge MSRP tax, activation fees, and higher plan... Similar to metro stores...so I didn't go that route.

Just a little review here. I received the phone on Monday and have been using it since. For $200 this phone is a steal. I am updating from a Oneplus 9 that I got last year on a Slickdeal from Best Buy for $150. The biggest issue I had was that it was only 128gb and the OnePlus 7 I had before was 256gb. This being 512gb takes away any space concerns which were a big problem before. The Snapdragon processor is top of the line and for me the Ready Now is a real game changer. I am able the phone on my desktop during work and now I don't need to use the phone itself at all for most things. It will also be great for using on vacation. I can just plug it into any hotel tv and have a desktop like experience or watch whatever I want from the phone. I was able to unlock it right away from Dr. Unlock on eBay who was recommended in the wiki. I am having the tracfone issue mentioned but I will order a new sim to have it transferred before the month of Boost is over. I also use Google Voice as my primary number so the actual service or phone number doesn't matter. No need to port my number when I switch services. I am no expert with cameras and i'm sure the cameras here will meet my simple needs. Overall this is a great deal to get a top of the line flagship phone at a great price.

Honestly, it's hard for me to decide between the edge 2022 with the dimensity chipset or this device, obviously this device will be about $60 cheaper compared to the Amazon price of the edge 2022 but as for 5G support, the dimensity chipset has some pretty amazing features and covers many many bands. But It seems like the edge 2022 plus this device that's listed here is better in more than a few ways honestly.

Does anyone else experience a bug that shows the symbol for no SIM in the phone after a restart? Only way to make it go away is to re-insert the SIM.

I have three of these and all have experienced that no sim icon on all of them. It doesnt effect the phone still works fine just that icon drives me crazy sometimes. I believe its a software bug. It stinks but has never effected phone performance.

I've been burned so many times with bad defective Moto phones (between 2016-2020). Has the quality improved so that they last 1+ years now?

I have had this phone for a year its super fast works great. Quality is good for me. The two things out of my control are the updates and cricket no 5g. With cricket the signal is still great average 50-90 mbps download speed that is acceptable for me paying $100 a month unlimited for 4 lines. Still on feb. security patch.

Defective how? I used 4 different Moto phones over the years starting with a basic Moto e6, then Moto G Power 2020, then Moto G Stylus 2022, and now this Edge+. None of them had any hardware issues and no software issues worth mentioning.

I have 3 Moto phones of different models from different carriers and this setting works on all of them. Suspect PEBKAC.

Agreed. I've been using Motorola's since the original G in 2013 (still going strong as alarm clock). Then the G5, then Moto G Power 2020 and now this. All have been mostly great phones. From the G Power 2020 to this has been the biggest upgrade so far! Only disappointment right now is no 5G with Cricket, but that's not necessarily Motos fault.

this edge+ 2022 phone does have "power on sounds" in the settings.

you need to scroll the screen to see it.

Interesting. I do see that option on my Boost 2022 Edge+ and I just turned it off on the phone I received earlier this week. It worked for me.

Can you please tell me if I understand the trick correctly?
Mom - TF VZW sim
Moto Edge+ - shows as incompatible for TF VZW
Contact CS support to activate a new TF VZW sim + give them imei of old+clean iPhone VZW imei
Put new TF VZW sim iin Moto phone
But wouldn't this count as a "Sim Swap" that another poster said NOT to do? Because TF can suspend your account?
I'm just telling you how to get around the whole compatible phone thing, this is a way to get your SIM card activated I have no idea if they don't allow SIM swaps or whatever you have to find it out on your own I haven't heard about it but I don't have any experience with that company so I'm unsure.

No personally I've been with red pocket and I swap Sims many times in a different phones and never had an issue, same with visible I activated visible with an iPhone that I didn't even have because my OnePlus wasn't compatible, and when I got the SIM card I just popped it in my OnePlus and it worked You should be able to do the same unless they don't allow putting your SIM card into a different phone.

You must use a hammer on them. I had like 8 motorola phones and never had an issue or got a "defective phone". A case is highly recommended. I put a case on all my phones.

From a Home screen, swipe up or down from the center of the display to access the apps screen. Tap then choose, 'None', 'Launch Assistant' or 'Launch Camera'. Tap then choose 'Gesture navigation' or '3-button navigation'. Tap then choose to turn on or off.
------------
Isn't it possible to change it by phone setting without downloading?
It's not. The built-in settings only allow you to change between 3-button navigation and gesture navigation. The 3 button layout is, from left to right, Back > Home > Recent apps. If you are OK with this layout, then the instructions are irrelevant to you, but if you want to make it Recent apps > Home > Back, you have to download the app to change it. There are other ways to do it, but I found this to be the easiest.
