I have used them both because my friend reviews tech products for a living and I go over and play with them. This is a much stronger processor. It also supports a desktop mode and the a54 does not. This has a glass build wireless charging and a lot more flagship features.

Major benefit to the a54 is that it's going to be updated for a lot longer.a54 we'll get Android 13 and 14 and 15 and this will probably just get Android 14. And it won't get security patches for as long.

Personally I would go with the Motorola but if I was recommending a phone to a casual user like my mom or my sister I might lean with the a54 just cuz it'll be secure for a longer period of time and they probably wouldn't make use of the flagship features like the desktop mode or the stylus.

The Motorola also has stylus support with an external stylus you can buy, an amazing desktop mode with a dock. Definitely a more premium piece of hardware

Yes this been going on for awhile in The Feb thread.

Was thinking of getting one but
Slow Moto Android upgrades, no dual sim, avg cam, large size stopped me.

Was going to get it for $50 with in store port in...but boost stores charge MSRP tax, activation fees, and higher plan... Similar to metro stores...so I didn't go that route.

Just a little review here. I received the phone on Monday and have been using it since. For $200 this phone is a steal. I am updating from a Oneplus 9 that I got last year on a Slickdeal from Best Buy for $150. The biggest issue I had was that it was only 128gb and the OnePlus 7 I had before was 256gb. This being 512gb takes away any space concerns which were a big problem before. The Snapdragon processor is top of the line and for me the Ready Now is a real game changer. I am able the phone on my desktop during work and now I don't need to use the phone itself at all for most things. It will also be great for using on vacation. I can just plug it into any hotel tv and have a desktop like experience or watch whatever I want from the phone. I was able to unlock it right away from Dr. Unlock on eBay who was recommended in the wiki. I am having the tracfone issue mentioned but I will order a new sim to have it transferred before the month of Boost is over. I also use Google Voice as my primary number so the actual service or phone number doesn't matter. No need to port my number when I switch services. I am no expert with cameras and i'm sure the cameras here will meet my simple needs. Overall this is a great deal to get a top of the line flagship phone at a great price.

I prefer the Power button sensor, more intuitive and faster.

Motorola makes the best fingerprint sensors. I didn't think I would like the side fingerprint sensor until I tried it. It is better than my pixel and samsung onscreen display sensors. It isn't even close or debatable to me from my experience.

Defective how? I used 4 different Moto phones over the years starting with a basic Moto e6, then Moto G Power 2020, then Moto G Stylus 2022, and now this Edge+. None of them had any hardware issues and no software issues worth mentioning.
actual failures to power on.
Moto Z . replacement phone eventually also had same issue,

Yeah, I really wanted the 2023, but at double the price I couldn't justify it. Plus I don't really like the curved sides. There's not a lot of great cases out there and glass screen protectors seem hard to make work.
not just double sales tax also adds more.

Edge+ 2022 came out to $202 after taxes. 2023 is $267 more

Bought edge plus 22 and 23 from boost and did some comparisons. Both unlocked by dr.Unlock codes. Using on T-Mobile.

22 feels like a mid-range phone with a flagship processor, but 23 feels like a flagship through and through.

22 has less than ideal haptic motor, which makes everything feel cheap, especially plastic frames reinforce that. 23 feels super slick and dense. Haptic motor feels like OnePlus 11 or pixel 7. Punchy with none of that rattle-y feeling. Camera is Very Meh on the 22, and while it is definitely better on the 23, but nothing to write home about.

Performance-wise, 23 is of course, miles ahead. But I guess I gotta put in perspective who is using the phone and what their main use-case is. They're both faster than MOST people need their phones to be, and gotta remember benchmarks aren't everything. Both feel lightning fast for most normal tasks and games. Fun fact, when pushed to the limits with 3dmark stress testing, 23 got to 45c while 22 throttled at 41c. Suffice to say, '23 can get super toasty.

Battery life is obviously better on the 23, but 22 isn't a slouch. 5 hours of light browsing and games on my 22, I have 45% battery remaining.

I think 190 for the '22 edge plus is a better value than '23 edge plus at $440. Well, $355 if you port-in. (200 + 35 + 50 +tax).

Great info thank you. Look forward to buying the 2023 EP when it hits $200. Does the 68w charger charge the 2022 EP any faster than the 30w charger?

22 is only capable of drawing up to 30w of power, it won't make it charge any faster with a 1000w charger

This webpage implies that it will work with the US Moto edge+ 2022.

Yep screen is not as good but it sure is bright. Keeping it since it's only 150. My v60 thinq 5g wants to kick the bucket after a dusty camping trip. But love the built in DAC.

Maybe get something nicer during Black Friday.
