I have used them both because my friend reviews tech products for a living and I go over and play with them. This is a much stronger processor. It also supports a desktop mode and the a54 does not. This has a glass build wireless charging and a lot more flagship features.

Major benefit to the a54 is that it's going to be updated for a lot longer.a54 we'll get Android 13 and 14 and 15 and this will probably just get Android 14. And it won't get security patches for as long.

Personally I would go with the Motorola but if I was recommending a phone to a casual user like my mom or my sister I might lean with the a54 just cuz it'll be secure for a longer period of time and they probably wouldn't make use of the flagship features like the desktop mode or the stylus.

The Motorola also has stylus support with an external stylus you can buy, an amazing desktop mode with a dock. Definitely a more premium piece of hardware

Yes this been going on for awhile in The Feb thread.

Was thinking of getting one but
Slow Moto Android upgrades, no dual sim, avg cam, large size stopped me.

Was going to get it for $50 with in store port in...but boost stores charge MSRP tax, activation fees, and higher plan... Similar to metro stores...so I didn't go that route.

Just a little review here. I received the phone on Monday and have been using it since. For $200 this phone is a steal. I am updating from a Oneplus 9 that I got last year on a Slickdeal from Best Buy for $150. The biggest issue I had was that it was only 128gb and the OnePlus 7 I had before was 256gb. This being 512gb takes away any space concerns which were a big problem before. The Snapdragon processor is top of the line and for me the Ready Now is a real game changer. I am able the phone on my desktop during work and now I don't need to use the phone itself at all for most things. It will also be great for using on vacation. I can just plug it into any hotel tv and have a desktop like experience or watch whatever I want from the phone. I was able to unlock it right away from Dr. Unlock on eBay who was recommended in the wiki. I am having the tracfone issue mentioned but I will order a new sim to have it transferred before the month of Boost is over. I also use Google Voice as my primary number so the actual service or phone number doesn't matter. No need to port my number when I switch services. I am no expert with cameras and i'm sure the cameras here will meet my simple needs. Overall this is a great deal to get a top of the line flagship phone at a great price.

You may need to be more specific. If it's Verizon proper for both of you and not some MVNO that uses Verizon towers then is this Verizon postpaid or prepaid? I don't necessarily know the solution to your problem, but the more info you provide, the more likely it is that someone will be able to assist.
1000% agree.

answers to some of your questions can be found in wiki.

did u read wiki?

suggest: wiki. read it

sample from wiki:

5. after u place the order. in 2 days, the sim card will auto activate. while in transit to you. many folks [including rafir] are upset because this makes u loose 2-3 days while the phone comes to you. shipping time varies. some in ca take 1 week from order date to receive day. in east coast it may be as short as 1 day. once the item is shipped. u can create a account using computer. then get the app on a spare phone. login. then u can see the exact imei they are sending you. send that imei to ebay seller above. u can have unlock code even before phone arrives. the imei can only be seen via the app. also good idea to turn off auto pay here

i do not know. not sure anyone here knows.
Thank you sir , I had no idea there was a wiki . Let's hope nobody stole it cuz the tracking number is invalid . Neither boost or UPS can confirm anything

....The S22U is just a much better phone overall, but it also costs a lot more (well, unless you got it for $250 total out of pocket like I did with the crazy trade in deals last year)......

Thanks. What was the crazy trade-in deal last year?

i think this was the deal

summary:
buy Galaxy Z flip 3 from Bestbuy on Verizon/ATT for $300+Tax+activation fees and trade-in for $800 to get Galaxy S22 Ultra for $100. So Galaxy s22 ultra will cost - $300+tax+activation / upgrade fee + $100 + tax on $100.

unconfirmed reports that coolcoder bought 1 for every member of their family

[and a few for their friends as well]

Hi Kangaroomba, thanks for your reply. I use Verizon postpaid (5G Do More), which has 20GB hotspot. And the hotspot works fine on my iPhone and Pixel 4. However, when I try to use the hotspot on Moto Edge Plus, I see the popup which says I need to contact Verizon customer service to turn on hotspot service.

Google store offered insane values for used phones last year like iPhone XR. Combined with Google Fi, most people got s22U for like 200-300 bucks.

I guess I should say that in COMPARISON with other flagship phones, it leaves a lot to be desired.

I've tested Pixel 7/pro, Samsung s23U, and OnePlus11, and for my use, moto23's camera is the least likable of the bunch. It's not bad by any means, I would be happy to use it if that was my only choice, but it's just ok IN MY OPINION. I take a lot of photos of my toddler, indoor things, mainly lower-light photos. Living in phoenix arizona conditions me to avoid outdoors
I have heard lot of praises of motorola edge+ 2023 camera and even the highly reputable DXOmark gave it high rating. When it is battling somewhat around the big boys scores like S23, iPhone 14 and the Pixel 7a DXOmark scores, it really showed how Motorola really stepped up the camera game with their flagship phones. I know technically the S23 isn't Samsung "highest flagship" but it is still a flagship phone to me. Motorola's most impressive and highest praised camera on a phone.

Pixel 7 Pro= 147 DXOMARK
Pixel 7= 140
Samsung S23 Ultra= 140
.
Samsung Galaxy S23= 133
Apple iPhone 14= 133
Google Pixel 7a= 133
Motorola Edge+ 2023= 130
OnePlus 11= 127

Pixel 6a= 122 (I am using that and that is really impressive to my eyes).

Been using this bad boy on mint for 5 days now and it's been a great experience.

It has great antennas /radios and has the best signal I've had for tmobile service. Everything works and the Sim easplug and play once unlocked.

That said the video capture on this is horrendous. Much worse than my Samsung S9. Photo capture is decent but man the video is TERRIBLE

Does anyone have this phone in Red pocket (Verizon mvno)? They said the phone is provisioned right and it's not a problem on their end.

No rush and thank you. The reason I ask is I was going to purchase the 68w charger. I can not find a test that shows the speed difference.
Ok. Tested both '22 and '23 because why not.
Both phones started at 10% charge remaining.

'23 has a "Charge Boost" option in the settings, but '22 does not. I disabled it just in case it gives '22 even more of a disadvantage. Both phones have optimized charging OFF.

Using the bundled 68w charger from '23, I've charged both phones for 30 minutes.

'23 went from 10% to 50% in 15 minutes, then from 50% to 80% in another 15 minutes. Total of 70% charge in 30 minutes.

'22 went from 10% to 40% in 15 minutes, then from 40% to 62% in another 15 minutes. Total of 52% charge in 30 minutes.

Yes ..we are just pointing out Ricky is talking out of his butt.
my butt was kinda sorta right, though I should have checked it for sure before saying it.

'22 does not charge at the same 68w rate the '23 is capable of. heck, it couldn't even match '23 even without the "charge boost" option enabled, which is probably the option that enables 68w anyways.

I don't have a meter, but I'm sure '23 didn't even get to use use the full 68w charging speed anyways, and the '22's claim about compatible charging with 68w is bull.

Maybe, just maybe the charging speeds and the charge boost option will be available when/if the '22 updates to android 13? But for now, the claim by moto seems like a fale statement.

The 2023 Edge+ is the only moto with a good camera array. Not sure about their Razr models.

Just curious - how would you compare this moto edge to S22U? I know camera and screen are better on Samsung, what about the rest? thanks.
The S22U will likely have inferior battery, which is generally a strength for Moto. From my experience the Power, Stylus and Edge models have low standby drain. I can't say the same for my S22U. The software experience is clean on the Edge, but they reach EOL way sooner. Longevity, software wise, is a weakness for all Moto models. I use custom ROMs so it's not as important to me.

Trade in or resale value will be greater for a Samsung flagship. From my experience it's hard to sell a Moto for a good price. Build quality will be superior with the S22U by far...

Customer service is a strong point for Moto and I'll give them that. Never had an issue with an RMA, which is done via FedEx to their TX location. Samsung can be a bit iffy with RMA. I had them reject an issue with my Galaxy Buds Live.

Haptics goes to Samsung. The S22U has a pretty good motor in it. Reception is an area I love Moto for. My S22U changes from 5G to LTE often and that bugs me. Whereas my cheaper Moto Stylus 5G (22) stays on 5GUC.

One UI has many features that help with productivity or bring QoL options. With the S22U you have an S Pen, and I use it to draw when I'm away from home. Also very handy for signing documents. Other stuff like floating windows are helpful. Samsung Pay occasionally gives free gift cards like for Atom or Microsoft...I believe Atom was $30 last time. In the past I got many Fortnite skins for free and cars for Asphalt 9.

5g works. 5G+ even. I'm guessing that's the 5G UC band
