I have used them both because my friend reviews tech products for a living and I go over and play with them. This is a much stronger processor. It also supports a desktop mode and the a54 does not. This has a glass build wireless charging and a lot more flagship features.

Major benefit to the a54 is that it's going to be updated for a lot longer.a54 we'll get Android 13 and 14 and 15 and this will probably just get Android 14. And it won't get security patches for as long.

Personally I would go with the Motorola but if I was recommending a phone to a casual user like my mom or my sister I might lean with the a54 just cuz it'll be secure for a longer period of time and they probably wouldn't make use of the flagship features like the desktop mode or the stylus.

The Motorola also has stylus support with an external stylus you can buy, an amazing desktop mode with a dock. Definitely a more premium piece of hardware

Yes this been going on for awhile in The Feb thread.

Was thinking of getting one but
Slow Moto Android upgrades, no dual sim, avg cam, large size stopped me.

Was going to get it for $50 with in store port in...but boost stores charge MSRP tax, activation fees, and higher plan... Similar to metro stores...so I didn't go that route.

Just a little review here. I received the phone on Monday and have been using it since. For $200 this phone is a steal. I am updating from a Oneplus 9 that I got last year on a Slickdeal from Best Buy for $150. The biggest issue I had was that it was only 128gb and the OnePlus 7 I had before was 256gb. This being 512gb takes away any space concerns which were a big problem before. The Snapdragon processor is top of the line and for me the Ready Now is a real game changer. I am able the phone on my desktop during work and now I don't need to use the phone itself at all for most things. It will also be great for using on vacation. I can just plug it into any hotel tv and have a desktop like experience or watch whatever I want from the phone. I was able to unlock it right away from Dr. Unlock on eBay who was recommended in the wiki. I am having the tracfone issue mentioned but I will order a new sim to have it transferred before the month of Boost is over. I also use Google Voice as my primary number so the actual service or phone number doesn't matter. No need to port my number when I switch services. I am no expert with cameras and i'm sure the cameras here will meet my simple needs. Overall this is a great deal to get a top of the line flagship phone at a great price.

Yep screen is not as good but it sure is bright. Keeping it since it's only 150. My v60 thinq 5g wants to kick the bucket after a dusty camping trip. But love the built in DAC.

Maybe get something nicer during Black Friday.
I just use my v20 and v30 as DACs...v60 has a weak USB port. First thing to die on the model. G8 has a screen issue where they seem to glitch at some point. V20 has replaceable battery so best option imo. V30 has very long battery life, especially as a music player. I can use it for shifts...

I know the v60 has the largest battery but it's expensive to replace.

You could look into the Zenfone 10 or Sony Xperia 1 (2023) for premium phones.

Great info thank you. Look forward to buying the 2023 EP when it hits $200. Does the 68w charger charge the 2022 EP any faster than the 30w charger?
I don't think the Edge+ 2023 is guaranteed to hit $200 deal or less from Boost. It could be wishful thinking. It isn't like the Metro deals where you kind of know what phones will be on sale yearly. I don't remember the other older Edge+ 2020 and 2021 deals going as low in the sale price. It will be most likely be on sale but there is no guarantee that Edge+ 2023 will go on sale for $200 in the future. The best deal for Edge+ 2023 in the future could possibly be $300-400. With the really good reviews and longer support for the Edge+2023, Boost may have less incentive to put it on a really great sale. It should be selling quite well for a Motorola phone and would be in more demand.

Bought edge plus 22 and 23 from boost and did some comparisons. Both unlocked by dr.Unlock codes. Using on T-Mobile.

22 feels like a mid-range phone with a flagship processor, but 23 feels like a flagship through and through.

22 has less than ideal haptic motor, which makes everything feel cheap, especially plastic frames reinforce that. 23 feels super slick and dense. Haptic motor feels like OnePlus 11 or pixel 7. Punchy with none of that rattle-y feeling. Camera is Very Meh on the 22, and while it is definitely better on the 23, but nothing to write home about.

Performance-wise, 23 is of course, miles ahead. But I guess I gotta put in perspective who is using the phone and what their main use-case is. They're both faster than MOST people need their phones to be, and gotta remember benchmarks aren't everything. Both feel lightning fast for most normal tasks and games. Fun fact, when pushed to the limits with 3dmark stress testing, 23 got to 45c while 22 throttled at 41c. Suffice to say, '23 can get super toasty.

Battery life is obviously better on the 23, but 22 isn't a slouch. 5 hours of light browsing and games on my 22, I have 45% battery remaining.

I think 190 for the '22 edge plus is a better value than '23 edge plus at $440. Well, $355 if you port-in. (200 + 35 + 50 +tax).
Camera on the Edge+ 2023 is nothing to write home about? I don't know about that.

I am pretty sure the camera on the Edge+ 2023 is the same exact camera as the Motorola Edge 40 Pro. The specs says so. The DXOmark is very highly rated with a 130 camera score. I had to do double take because I have never seen a Motorola phone camera being praised or graded that high. It has a great camera and pretty much battling right there with the Samsung Galaxy S23 (133 DXOmark score), Pixel 7a (133 DXOmark score) and Apple iPhone 14 (133 DXOmark score).

I think the camera was a pretty significant jump in quality from Edge+ 2022 to 2023. I am judging from the DXOmark scores and they are really good with their camera reviews. I would be perfectly fine with the Edge+ 2022 camera but it definitely seems to be a pretty big improvement judging from the critic reviews and DXOmark scoring.

I guess I should say that in COMPARISON with other flagship phones, it leaves a lot to be desired.

I've tested Pixel 7/pro, Samsung s23U, and OnePlus11, and for my use, moto23's camera is the least likable of the bunch. It's not bad by any means, I would be happy to use it if that was my only choice, but it's just ok IN MY OPINION. I take a lot of photos of my toddler, indoor things, mainly lower-light photos. Living in phoenix arizona conditions me to avoid outdoors

No rush and thank you. The reason I ask is I was going to purchase the 68w charger. I can not find a test that shows the speed difference.

I agree. I had recently lost my pixel pro 7 and really like the phone so far for a week worth of time I have spent on it. Overall the pictures were better on pixel but to me this phone is better in almost everything else.

Not for me. Anytime I make a call, it goes to spectrum customer service. I talked to them and was told that Edge+ 2022 was not supported.
