I have used them both because my friend reviews tech products for a living and I go over and play with them. This is a much stronger processor. It also supports a desktop mode and the a54 does not. This has a glass build wireless charging and a lot more flagship features.

Major benefit to the a54 is that it's going to be updated for a lot longer.a54 we'll get Android 13 and 14 and 15 and this will probably just get Android 14. And it won't get security patches for as long.

Personally I would go with the Motorola but if I was recommending a phone to a casual user like my mom or my sister I might lean with the a54 just cuz it'll be secure for a longer period of time and they probably wouldn't make use of the flagship features like the desktop mode or the stylus.

The Motorola also has stylus support with an external stylus you can buy, an amazing desktop mode with a dock. Definitely a more premium piece of hardware

Yes this been going on for awhile in The Feb thread.

Was thinking of getting one but
Slow Moto Android upgrades, no dual sim, avg cam, large size stopped me.

Was going to get it for $50 with in store port in...but boost stores charge MSRP tax, activation fees, and higher plan... Similar to metro stores...so I didn't go that route.

Just a little review here. I received the phone on Monday and have been using it since. For $200 this phone is a steal. I am updating from a Oneplus 9 that I got last year on a Slickdeal from Best Buy for $150. The biggest issue I had was that it was only 128gb and the OnePlus 7 I had before was 256gb. This being 512gb takes away any space concerns which were a big problem before. The Snapdragon processor is top of the line and for me the Ready Now is a real game changer. I am able the phone on my desktop during work and now I don't need to use the phone itself at all for most things. It will also be great for using on vacation. I can just plug it into any hotel tv and have a desktop like experience or watch whatever I want from the phone. I was able to unlock it right away from Dr. Unlock on eBay who was recommended in the wiki. I am having the tracfone issue mentioned but I will order a new sim to have it transferred before the month of Boost is over. I also use Google Voice as my primary number so the actual service or phone number doesn't matter. No need to port my number when I switch services. I am no expert with cameras and i'm sure the cameras here will meet my simple needs. Overall this is a great deal to get a top of the line flagship phone at a great price.

Tested it just now and Visible hotspot works just fine
Are you sure you're not connected to WiFi at the same time? Because if yes, the hotspot will work, but it's not going to be using mobile data but simply relay to your home wifi

Does Boost Mobile blacklist addresses? I've been getting "Payment Declined" over the last couple of days. I've tried different email addresses, phone numbers, and credit cards (including a virtual card specifically for the Boost Mobile store). Went incognito in Chrome, still had the same problem. Contacted Boost via chat, they had the same issue at their end, but didn't have any idea why. Contacted my credit card issuer -- they don't see any declines on their end. About the only constant is my mailing address. I'm running out of ideas for workarounds.
Tried different shipping address?

Unfortunately, it's rejecting me at the Billing Info page -- there's no option to specify a shipping address that early.

Dead weight? You don't like Metro's plans? Their $25. plan (not published) is great. Much better than T-Mo cost wise.

I don't think so, I'v gotten both multiple sims and phones with different emails, but always the same physical address.

If anybody is wondering the device is carrier locked, here is the response from Boostmobile customer service:

As per checking here, the phone should be active for at least 12 months on our network. We are unable to unlock the device until it has been active on the Boost network for 12 months. It's because when you purchase the device from Boost it was heavily discounted from the normal retail price. We cannot allow the device to exit our network until the discount of the phone is covered by the months of service paid to the network.

This sounds like a cool phone, but honestly, after realizing that even in 2023 Android Backup/Restore is completely incompetent and still, after all these years, can't even fully backup and restore one phone to another, I'm thinking I may just switch back to iPhone.

Google has simply dropped the ball too much, too hard, for too long.
