I have used them both because my friend reviews tech products for a living and I go over and play with them. This is a much stronger processor. It also supports a desktop mode and the a54 does not. This has a glass build wireless charging and a lot more flagship features.

Major benefit to the a54 is that it's going to be updated for a lot longer.a54 we'll get Android 13 and 14 and 15 and this will probably just get Android 14. And it won't get security patches for as long.

Personally I would go with the Motorola but if I was recommending a phone to a casual user like my mom or my sister I might lean with the a54 just cuz it'll be secure for a longer period of time and they probably wouldn't make use of the flagship features like the desktop mode or the stylus.

The Motorola also has stylus support with an external stylus you can buy, an amazing desktop mode with a dock. Definitely a more premium piece of hardware

Yes this been going on for awhile in The Feb thread.

Was thinking of getting one but
Slow Moto Android upgrades, no dual sim, avg cam, large size stopped me.

Was going to get it for $50 with in store port in...but boost stores charge MSRP tax, activation fees, and higher plan... Similar to metro stores...so I didn't go that route.

Just a little review here. I received the phone on Monday and have been using it since. For $200 this phone is a steal. I am updating from a Oneplus 9 that I got last year on a Slickdeal from Best Buy for $150. The biggest issue I had was that it was only 128gb and the OnePlus 7 I had before was 256gb. This being 512gb takes away any space concerns which were a big problem before. The Snapdragon processor is top of the line and for me the Ready Now is a real game changer. I am able the phone on my desktop during work and now I don't need to use the phone itself at all for most things. It will also be great for using on vacation. I can just plug it into any hotel tv and have a desktop like experience or watch whatever I want from the phone. I was able to unlock it right away from Dr. Unlock on eBay who was recommended in the wiki. I am having the tracfone issue mentioned but I will order a new sim to have it transferred before the month of Boost is over. I also use Google Voice as my primary number so the actual service or phone number doesn't matter. No need to port my number when I switch services. I am no expert with cameras and i'm sure the cameras here will meet my simple needs. Overall this is a great deal to get a top of the line flagship phone at a great price.

Significantly faster? The performance will be better but real world use is different than looking at an antutu score or some other score. Like Marques Brownlee said "The gap between budget and mid-range is way bigger than the gap between mid-range and flagship.". I think powerful processors could be overrated by many especially if one doesn't do any demanding gaming and are just more normal users. It is like when I took my Pixel 6a with its powerful very fast Tensor chip and did a side by side test. It wasn't twice as fast. Even though it has a much higher antutu score, real world use isn't showing a huge difference. I think powerful processors are appreciated but it isn't so necessary when mid-range processors are so good for basic users. You are talking about fractions of a second or a second. When I opened some certain game, the pixel 6a opened the game up significantly faster but when I played it, it made no difference. With an increased powerful processor comes sacrifice of battery life and my Pixel 6a isn't that good compared to my other phones. Samsung has the better quality screen and better battery life. If one is a gamer of demanding games, one should look at the motorola. The cameras are probably even. Value also needs to be in the discussion as I think the metro a54 5g is a better value but this boost deal is great as well. There are just so many various strengths and weaknesses between a Pixel 6a, Samsung Galaxy A54 5G and Motorola Edge+ 2022, it really comes to what a user priorities and preferences are. One can even throw in the Metro Motorola G Stylus 5G 2023 deal in the mix. I didn't include phones like Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus because their deal price is much higher. Not talking about deals that had trade-in requirements or "free phone" deals.
I for one do find real world difference between flagship phones and midrange phone as well as budget phones. This is from using flaghips (s22 ultra and pixel 7) in daily use vs watching MKB video online. Out of curiosity have you used a recent flagship in daily use not just play with a model in store?

I am not even a power user but prefer my phones to boot up fast and be very responsive which flagships excel at.

I also find a difference in the build quality as well between flagship phones and mid-range.

I also find a difference in features between flagships with a glass back and wireless charging and a midrange with a plastic back and no wireless charging.

There are folks who like a Ford Pinto. And there are folks who like a Mercedes S class sedan.

Sure in both one can drive from point a to point b. But matter of preference. The quality difference between the two is subjective and matter of opinions. They are dime a dozen online.

Received it , and unlocked it …. How do you remove your credit card ? Keep asking me to put another card in my file before I remove one ? Also is there a way to deactivate my account ? Or do I have to call them for that

I wonder if boost phones need a " boost sim" in order to update firmware and patches. (Like att phones do)?
I'm not familiar w boost.
I guess you could eventually unlock bootloader and install OEM moto firmwares?

It's carrier branded. The US unlocked model gets updates more frequently for Moto phones. Like I flashed my Boost stylus to the unlocked firmware.

Hot because of the 8gen 1 + 5G. You can try to avoid known rogue apps like Facebook and chrome...
Is there a difference in performance for stylus 2022 with unlocked firmware? I got mine unlocked it and inserted T-Mobile SIM in it I don't think I have anything other than T-Mobile stuff.
Just curious what would I gain by using unlock ROM other than updates. Thanks

You gain more frequent updates there is no performance difference other than software

Nobody in their right mind would ever say a 1970s Ford Pinto is today's mid-range car like today's mid-range phones like a Samsung Galaxy A54 5G or Pixel 6a. I have no idea why you would say that.

That is absurd to compare Ford Pinto to a Mercedes to phones. Beyond ridiculous. Listen to Marquees Brownlee who knows way more about phones than you. He stated that the gap between flagship and mid-range phone is so small and way smaller than a budget vs mid-range. He is 100% right and you are 100% wrong if you think otherwise. I am laughing at how you disagree with Marquees Brownlee and think you know more than him. "But but but why does he is flagship phones over mid-range phones?".... He uses flagship phones because he is a big time phone reviewer who is super rich too. Ha. He pays retail too. He doesn't care about value or deals. I do care about value.

You say you find a difference in daily use but never bring up anything significant but "boot up time". "I am not even a power user" but you use a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. What does that mean? HAHA! Look how fast a phone boots up! HAHA. Who cares?! How many times do you boot up a phone in a day? I can't even remember the last time I booted up my daily driver. God forbid that someone waits extra seconds longer to boot up. Nobody cares about some extra seconds faster bootup. My Pixel 6a boots up in 10 seconds, Samsung Galaxy A54 5G boots up in 30 seconds. Motorola G Stylus 5G 2022 boots up in 25 seconds. Who cares? Does your Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra open up apps 2 second faster than mid-ranges. NO WAY.

Wireless charging is useless to me when a wired connection delivers faster speed. Did you know that wireless charging isn't really wireless charging when the "wireless" charging dock has a wire? The wireless charging dock takes more space than just a cord charger too. I always laugh at this wireless charging argument. Slower, takes more space and also has a wire. I have wireless charging devices and phones and a dock. I don't use that feature. Real wireless charging is a charging without any wire. OTA.

When the flagship users want to bring up "Hey. Look at how beautiful the material is. I want to show it off to others."..... I bring up that I pretty much use a Spigen case on all my phones so "showing off" isn't a priority to me. I care more about protection than showing off. Did you know that glass can easily shatter and crack? Did you know aluminum can dent easier? If a phone comes with glass rear material, plastic or aluminum, it really doesn't matter to me once a put on a Spigen case. Without a case, phone are at risk to being damaged and they will be slippery too.

I have a Pixel 6a with the Tensor chip and you have a Pixel 7 with the Tensor 2. The performance of the pixel 6a (705k) isn't that far off from the Pixel 7 (768K antutu). There is nothing wrong with their performance. They are fast and snappy but so are the mid-ranges. Do you want to talk about battery life? There is always a price paid for powerful processor and the Pixel 6a and 7 battery life isn't good. Some people would have a higher priority with battery life than "Hey look at the extra seconds I saved on the booting up screen.".

Am I saying that the Motorola Edge+ 2022 with its powerful flagship processor is bad or isn't powerful? Absolutely not. Am I saying that this Edge+2022 deal is bad? Absolutely not. I am saying performance and camera quality performance can be overrated to me when it comes to real world use. I say that as a Pixel 6a (close to a Pixel 7 performance) user which has a really good processor and a great camera. People need to look at other aspects beyond powerful processor. I know the Pixel 6a isn't a flagship model but to me it is a flagship processor that suffers from bad battery life. That matters to me.

Do you need to unlock bootloader?
Can you please share rom link?

P.S. are these unlocked roms available for all edge+ models?

Do you know by chance if there is an easy way to do it for T-Mobile Samsung ultra s22? If so is Samsung unlocked rom better/faster than T-Mobile? I'd like to get Samsung as clean as possible but I don't know if I want to go with custom roms.

Thanks a lot!

did you use Dr unlock to get the unlock code? I bought the code from him last time and worked flawlessly, but, now I can't find him

Thanks for the info. I did attempt Googling but couldn't find anything concrete (besides the ebay page which is taken down). If possible, would you mind DM'ing the number?
Also looking for Dr unlock, would you share his contact info if you get it, thanks

Im not sure where all this "garbage" comes from. The phone is bare bones for software unless you pop in the boost sim. Then the boost store gets installed and about 20 pieces of garbage get installed even if you select no to all screens when the store first gets installed.
