I have used them both because my friend reviews tech products for a living and I go over and play with them. This is a much stronger processor. It also supports a desktop mode and the a54 does not. This has a glass build wireless charging and a lot more flagship features.

Major benefit to the a54 is that it's going to be updated for a lot longer.a54 we'll get Android 13 and 14 and 15 and this will probably just get Android 14. And it won't get security patches for as long.

Personally I would go with the Motorola but if I was recommending a phone to a casual user like my mom or my sister I might lean with the a54 just cuz it'll be secure for a longer period of time and they probably wouldn't make use of the flagship features like the desktop mode or the stylus.

The Motorola also has stylus support with an external stylus you can buy, an amazing desktop mode with a dock. Definitely a more premium piece of hardware

Yes this been going on for awhile in The Feb thread.

Was thinking of getting one but
Slow Moto Android upgrades, no dual sim, avg cam, large size stopped me.

Was going to get it for $50 with in store port in...but boost stores charge MSRP tax, activation fees, and higher plan... Similar to metro stores...so I didn't go that route.

Just a little review here. I received the phone on Monday and have been using it since. For $200 this phone is a steal. I am updating from a Oneplus 9 that I got last year on a Slickdeal from Best Buy for $150. The biggest issue I had was that it was only 128gb and the OnePlus 7 I had before was 256gb. This being 512gb takes away any space concerns which were a big problem before. The Snapdragon processor is top of the line and for me the Ready Now is a real game changer. I am able the phone on my desktop during work and now I don't need to use the phone itself at all for most things. It will also be great for using on vacation. I can just plug it into any hotel tv and have a desktop like experience or watch whatever I want from the phone. I was able to unlock it right away from Dr. Unlock on eBay who was recommended in the wiki. I am having the tracfone issue mentioned but I will order a new sim to have it transferred before the month of Boost is over. I also use Google Voice as my primary number so the actual service or phone number doesn't matter. No need to port my number when I switch services. I am no expert with cameras and i'm sure the cameras here will meet my simple needs. Overall this is a great deal to get a top of the line flagship phone at a great price.

I would advise against using unlockboot(dot)com. They tell you to contact them to make sure you're choosing the right option. I contacted them, gave them my IMEI and was told to choose the "remote" option. I selected the only option in the list with "remote" in the name, applied the Save10 code, and checked out. I was promptly emailed and told I needed to pay $13 more because when the rep said "choose remote", he actually meant "do *not* choose remote, and instead choose an option with no mention of the word". When I said "fine, whatever, just since the Save10 code would've knocked the price down to $35, I'll pay the $9 upcharge", they said I couldn't use the code because "of the transaction fees for the 2nd order". I suppose this sort of scamminess is to be expected in this space, but I'd definitely advice anyone to explore other options and don't trust anything you're told by their customer support.
Yike.

Yeah... I wound up paying the $13, because they already had my $26 and refused to refund it, but I definitely won't be giving them any more business.

since your phone is now unlocked. Do a charge back on 2 payments to see what would happen?
Obviously, it was not your fault. They baited you.

Hopefully the database gets updated to include unlock codes for units manufactured in Aug. 2023. Crossing my fingers this would happen before the end of 2023.

Could someone confirm to me that the last units from August can no longer be easily unlocked? Or is it possible to unlock it remotely with an unlocking service?

You can place an order if they can't find an unlock code, then they will refund you. Only a few bucks. If there is no unlock code, then you can decide if you want to use remote unlock or not.

I had to have mine unlocked remotely. It cost $39 and took like 5 minutes.

Anyone who had theirs unlocked remotely ever root their phone?

After remote unlock, the phone model shows up as a motorola edge 30 pro under settings. Will I have any issues unlocking the bootloader so I can root after a remote USB unlock?

Unless they crossflashed it or something, it should say motorola edge plus (2022) and on software channel DISH Wireless.

edge 30 pro is the international version

There's a good chance the remote unlockers change the firmware settings and/or IMEI so that the phone thinks it's a different model for which they do have the codes.

I read that someone reported their IMEI changed after a remote unlock. Compare with the box.

Its all fun and games till the unlocker cant change the software channel. Then you are forever stuck on whatever rom you have installed. DISH does not have updates for the 30 pro.

I placed an order and was refunded because they could not locate the unlock code.

Mine says edge 30 pro as the model and IMEI is still the same.

Currently using it with T-Mobile.

Can you please check if your phone now supports dual sim? Cos edge 30 pro is natively a dual sim phone. And edge plus 2022 has the second sim tray.
