With the GoPro app, you can use your phone as a display. My big concern with the mini is that you can't change the battery.

Can you record 1 hour worth of video while in the sun. And recharge the thing with in about 1-2 hours for it to be ready to go again.

I like my 11 mini. No need for a screen when on a chest strap or head mount. I use when mountain biking and the one thing I wish it had was built in gps for speed overlays on video like the regular one has

The mini will have many limitations compared to the regular one. Typically professionals who already have the regular will get the mini for more coverage. But the average Joe will go for the regular one. You'll have too many frustrations if you decide to get the mini. The only highlight of the mini is that it's smaller and cheaper.

That's a deal breaker for sure. I always have several backup batteries for the regular GoPro

Just FYI if youre looking dor a good reliable action camera, the DJI Osmo Action 4 will be released in a few days and the price of the Action 3 will likely drop. FWIW I film motorsports professionally and have had to switch away from GoPro because of freezing, overheating, and battery life issues with GoPros.
