Pardon my ignorance, but can someone explain in layperson terms, how can I put this to work on my laptop and PS5, both simultaneously displaying on my Samsung Odyssey G9 49" ultrawide monitor, if it's possible at all?
Problem is my laptop only has an HDMI port and doesn't have a DP of course, just as the PS5.
The monitor has 1 HDMI and 2 DisplayPorts.
So if I connect the PS5 via the HDMI and the 2 DPs from the monitor go into this device, which in turns connects to the laptop via USBC, will it work?
edit: alternatively, is there a better device I should look for?
p.s. I just need it to work. the Hz, refresh rates, frame rates, resolutions, quality, speed, is secondary. I'm blind to all of that.

If that's the case, you should be set, but you don't need both DP's connected between the dock and the monitor. The monitor has two so you can plug two different devices in, and the dock has two to support dual monitors.
You'll be using the monitor's input switching to go back and forth between HDMI and DP1.
More complicated if you need a specific refresh rate and resolution so that helps.

This device will help there, I suppose?

edit: it's the hp pavilion 14" silver one with 11th Gen Intel I think.

If you buy this adpater, you will end up having to grab an additional dp to dp cable if you don't have an extra already. Though, the main benefit is that you will get a few extra usb ports, ethernet, and extra dp port in case if you need it for something in the future.

I don't need the other features, per se, but will be nice to consolidate.
I had an HDMI to DP but turns out most are unidirectional, at least the cheap ones.
The bidirectional ones are pricey.
This hits the notes for the price.
I've got a spare DP to DP cable, so this might be it.
I was thinking of a direct USBC to DP device, but this unit brings extra features and an additional DP port, all for a low low price of $27, so looks really appealing.
That special cable for PS5 compatible sure sounds nice, but I'm hoping to not spend too much, solving a problem that isn't crucial to fix.
