It should be noted that even though this is the only physical release of of Sonic Origins that all versions require a download for the Game Gear Content. I think the Amy DLC might be on it as well that lets you play as Amy in the OG games.
I think this is ridiculous. I guess it might of made a bit of sense on Switch as the game data is like 7.7gb. But Blu-ray discs are just wasting all that space. It is getting ridiculous that we are getting games in unfinished states, or missing a bunch of content, or even in a couple of cases just have the file so you can download the game. It is making game preservation all that much harder.

Nintendo promised us to go back to the 80s with cartridge. Implies games will work bc then the games are final product with proper QC (ie no more update downloads). I didn't ask for it. That was their selling point. They should not offer companies to have this option to sell codes in the box. Poor practice. This is where congress could actually regulate the industry on the basis of wastefulness (what's a consumer to do with a box with no resell value).
The unable to return/re-sell part is a big bummer, same for the games never going on sale (Cyberpunk was $59.99 digitally while every store was selling it for $4.99 - 9.99 it seemed).
The downside with the Switch though.. is that Nintendo can't really be trusted with online platforms/services. I believe they shut down the Wii U store earlier this year (meaning you can't even re-download games like this -- if you ever deleted them, had a corrupted card, or had a system replaced). It seems that Nintendo sees these platforms as very time-limited and will shut them off as needed. Wii U was about 10 years old when they shut the servers off, while PS3 is going on 17 years and I think that store is still running?
While the Switch store isn't going anywhere anytime soon, it is a question of how long the games will be accessible for.. which is the scary part of having digital-only downloads on it, which is why I think most are against it

i'm also of the camp that you should own PHYSICAL copies, movies and games alike. once the servers shut down, and they will, your money will evaporate. some will say "just download the games" but if your console dies and you need to buy a used replacement, you are SOL.
fortunately for those who buy physical copies, it's now almost definite that all of your copies will go up in value tremendously. so don't say anything and keep it moving
I do miss the opening Seeegggaaa
