Be warned, I bought this for Switch and everything except the Genesis games are download codes if that matters to you. I wouldn't have bought it if I knew they weren't all on the cart.

Too expensive to be digital, don't embrace digital purchases.

Sooner or later all of the Switch's digital library will be gone.

Not a fan of digital, I will never forget purchasing one of my favorite all time games Double Dragon years ago on the 360 only to lose access to it a few years later because the publisher lost the rights, repurchased it years later on the PlayStation 4 when it was released through Arcade Archives, feels more like you are renting a game until they tell you its not available anymore and absolutely nothing you can do about it.

Do they all come with the booklet? I feel like this will make for a good black friday worthy purchase...wouldn't be playing it right now either way....
I bought the PS5 version on release day. It appears they all come with a slip cover then the case, they also have a reversible Sega Genesis cover for the actual game case and the booklet.

It should be noted that even though this is the only physical release of of Sonic Origins that all versions require a download for the Game Gear Content. I think the Amy DLC might be on it as well that lets you play as Amy in the OG games.

I think this is ridiculous. I guess it might of made a bit of sense on Switch as the game data is like 7.7gb. But Blu-ray discs are just wasting all that space. It is getting ridiculous that we are getting games in unfinished states, or missing a bunch of content, or even in a couple of cases just have the file so you can download the game. It is making game preservation all that much harder.

potential $14.99-$19.99 around black friday Smilie
Maybe even $10. You can play most of these on iOS free with ads if you're just looking to scratch that nostalgia itch.

Future access to download titles. Eventually when Nintendo retires the Switch eShop you will not be able to buy digital or redeem codes.

Same price at Best Buy, slightly better deal if you have a paid membership and have 2 other games at a $29.99 price point to buy in order to take advantage of the B2G1 deal.

I'm a digital guy too. But they're things that are wrong. Pretending to sell a game cartridge and instead putting a digital code is wrong. It's misleading, unnecessary, wasteful. Plays on ppl who want cartridge so selling digital to the wrong crowd. If they only wanted to give us a digital code then don't sell a box with a code. Just sell it as a digital code without the box. That's more honest.

Nintendo promised us to go back to the 80s with cartridge. Implies games will work bc then the games are final product with proper QC (ie no more update downloads). I didn't ask for it. That was their selling point. They should not offer companies to have this option to sell codes in the box. Poor practice. This is where congress could actually regulate the industry on the basis of wastefulness (what's a consumer to do with a box with no resell value).
I understand that and agree with you. Digital for me is convenient. I don't need to worry about losing the disc, getting it scratched or whatever. If I delete it, I can reinstall it. However, if I buy a game digitally and it's a dog (COD MWII) I can't return it, I can't trade it in so I'm stuck with it. A friend of mine says steam will let you "return" digital games up to a certain point, would be nice if consoles would do the same.

Digital offers a lot of value -- loading it onto multiple systems (living room + bedroom), not needing the disc/cart (wrong case from swapping discs out), and just the convenience of turning on the console and playing..
The unable to return/re-sell part is a big bummer, same for the games never going on sale (Cyberpunk was $59.99 digitally while every store was selling it for $4.99 - 9.99 it seemed).

The downside with the Switch though.. is that Nintendo can't really be trusted with online platforms/services. I believe they shut down the Wii U store earlier this year (meaning you can't even re-download games like this -- if you ever deleted them, had a corrupted card, or had a system replaced). It seems that Nintendo sees these platforms as very time-limited and will shut them off as needed. Wii U was about 10 years old when they shut the servers off, while PS3 is going on 17 years and I think that store is still running?

While the Switch store isn't going anywhere anytime soon, it is a question of how long the games will be accessible for.. which is the scary part of having digital-only downloads on it, which is why I think most are against it

Nope, those fckers have more money than you and thus get to vote on the matter.

too late brah. 90% of all video game sales are now digital, and you can thank the pandemic for that

i'm also of the camp that you should own PHYSICAL copies, movies and games alike. once the servers shut down, and they will, your money will evaporate. some will say "just download the games" but if your console dies and you need to buy a used replacement, you are SOL.

fortunately for those who buy physical copies, it's now almost definite that all of your copies will go up in value tremendously. so don't say anything and keep it moving

I loved playing the original sonic on sega. Such a fun game. I wonder if the Port to Xbox or switch is similar?
I do miss the opening Seeegggaaa

They're referring to this previously posted deal https://slickdeals.net/share/iphone_app/fp/842009 it looks like it's an on going Switch deal for Best Buy as it hasn't expired yet. The only other two games I see around this price are Harvestella 31.99 and Tactics Orge Reborn 29.99 (which I had bought out of fomo since it was selling out immediately not thinking it would have a long print run) … I suppose it make for a decent resale I'll have to consider it…….
