i dont know how to stop loving someone.

the guy im in love with is going to join the air force and wont ever be moving back here. i always thought we'd be together, get married and grow old together. it kills me inside to know he loves me but isnt in love with me anymore. i cant date anyone because i'll just keep comparing them and think "he's not adam". i've never really been in love with someone and not have them love me back the same way. i dont what to do. i dont feel like time heals all wounds. i dont feel like any amount of time will stop me from being in love with him.

the thing that makes this hard too, is that he's the closest thing i have to a best friend. when he leaves, i'll lose my best friend and the guy i love in one swoop.

air force requires that much time? I thought it was just a couple months of training then only a few days out of the month after that

That would be the Reserves, not Active Duty, which is what I think GG is talking about.

If he is saying he doesn't love you the way you love him and he is still hanging around wanting to "be" with you...kick him to the curb so fast that his eyes roll back in his head. Mad

If he is saying he doesn't love you the way you love him but will always care about you...keep the bedroom door locked but be friendly. Let the relationship end on a pleasant note.

he says he loves me. he tells me all the time. he says he isnt in love with me anymore but cares about me. he confuses me Ermm. i think the lack of us hanging out and being with each other (he doesnt live in this city) makes him think he isnt in love, then when he sees me again, he'll realize he is in love with me. or maybe im just delusional Dontknow

You don't have to stop loving him. You can still love someone that has moved on.
I know this is brutal, but all you can do is wait it out. Time heals.
There's more than one person in the world compatible with you.

And, worse case, being single doesn't mean you have to be miserable.
Go ahead and mourn this relationship for a few days, then focus on yourself a bit.

I have to remind myself that life is short. Might as well try to enjoy it, even though things sometimes don't work out the way you want them to.
