I'm actually writing this post while waiting on a local UbreakIfix Asurion location to carry out the screen protector swap of my Flip 4 so I can avoid having an ugly screen for the remaining few weeks I have this phone before I trade it in for the Flip 5.
I always do my cell phone purchases with an extended warranty credit card, plus Amex platinum gives you a phone protection if you pay your full monthly bill with the credit card. I may still keep doing Applecare with the Mrs' iphones though because it's easy to get things fixed/swapped w/ the Apple store nearby.
And by the way, if you have to use your credit card protection, they will not consider the actual value of the phone but only how much you charged on the credit card.
